Leona Whichard Cherry

BETHEL - Leona Whichard Cherry, 93, of 3833 Cecil St., died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at Vidant Medical Center.
She was born in Martin County on July 1, 1921, to the late Jarvis and Bessie Roebuck Whichard and was predeceased by her two husbands, Willie Lee Briley and Preston Cherry. Leona was a member of Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she was a choir member and a member of the Women's Ministers. She retired from Burroughs Wellcome.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at noon at the Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Timothy Bowen. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 a.m. to noon at the church.
Survivors include her sons, Billy Briley and Danny Briley of Greenville and Gene Briley of Simpson; daughter, Linda Miller of Bethel; a sister, Margaret Ann, and brother, Linwood Earl, both of Greenville; five grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
