My Dearest Mom; For as long as I can remember you have been there for me. When I was little I knew I could always count on you. Even when there were times when I was younger and you had to work because you were a single mom, we always did our best, together! You always had a way of making me feel safe and well off, even when we didn't have much. When you married dad, Buck, we had a great life! I remember our Sunday drives. They were fun family adventures, just like our camping trips, fishing trips and following dad around to different airports so he could fly his glider. Even as I grew older and we didn't always live close, we almost always managed to be together for holidays, birthdays, and big and small events, You and dad were a rock for our family, such caring and loving parents and grandparents. Rick and I, Desirae and Emily, truly value your love and support. You have left a legacy of love, compassion and a generous dose of life skills! You were the best mom and grandmother ever! My family and I feel so filled with love and blessed because you loved us so well! Mom you are my hero! I will never forget all you did for my family and I. I feel so grateful to have had the opportunity to help you in your later years. We all love you and miss you every day. See you in Heaven! Your loving daughter and family; Shirley, Rick, Desirae and Emily

I have many beautiful memories of Leona Davis, who was my aunt. I loved her dearly. I didn't see her that much when I was young, and less as I grew into my teens, as she had moved away. But we all got to see her at Christmas and some other holidays. After I was married Aunt Leona and Buck spent a few days with my husband and myself because of a family reunion they had come in for. I really enjoyed there company and the love they showed us, and we had fun. Another time is when Shirley and Aunt Leona came down for a visit to where I live now, and what a fun time we all had, loved it very much. I always loved her red hair. She was in very good hands here on earth, and now in God hands.

My Aunt Lee was very kind and generous, personable and a talented artist. She enjoyed traveling and went on numerous family excursions. I remember her hospitality when Gerry and I visited her after we were married in 1955. They took us dancing where the big bands played and we could dance all night. I don't remember the name of the band, but I think the dance hall was “Elitch's Garden” (?). They also took us to a building with a visitors deck that had a beautiful view of the country side. Shirley was a little tike, so Gerry carried her up the long stairs to the top.
Robert, Lawrida, her son Bart, her Grandson Michael, his friend Brad and I all visited with Aunt Lee and Uncle Buck in October of 2013. We had a great time on our visit and enjoyed spending time with Shirley, Rick and their daughters who took us sight-seeing. Rodger Trenary also stopped in for a visit while we were there. Unfortunately this was the last time we were able to see Aunt Lee before she was called home to Heaven by The Lord. We will all miss her. Love Edie Umland

I knew Lee in Colorado, when I was a young girl. Though I haven't seen her for years, we have kept in touch and it has always been so nice to talk to her and hear about her life. Lee was always so sweet and a lot of fun to be with. She was a wonderful aunt, (Married, at that time, to my uncle Dutch) but really she was like a good friend to me. I'll never forget her.
Sincerely, Marilyn Smith

Where do I start when it comes to talking about my Aunt Leona. I remember her as being pretty, always smiling and happy, unless Grandma Trenary said something to her to make her not smile !
She was a part of my life for a whole school year when I was little. Her and Grandma Trenary took care of me during the week while my Mother and Father( Lawrence and Ida) worked and my sisters and brother( Joyce,Edith,Velma and Bob) went to school. I remember her and Grandma made a couple dresses for me.
I remember her leaving for Colorado and getting married. Grandma Trenary went to Colorado to stay with Aunt Lee when she was about to have her baby girl, Shirley. I was almost 11 years old and went to stay with Grandpa Trenary while Grandma was gone. Grandpa had Palsy and needed someone to stay with him. Not sure I was any company for him but I loved Grandpa !
We were able to take a trip out there to see Aunt Lee when Shirley was small. Seeing the view, I knew why she fell in love with the west.
Thanks to my Grandson, Michael , I was able to see Aunt Lee early in 2013 and again in the fall , along with my Sister, Edith and Brother, Bob. Extra surprise I was able to see my cousin Rodger.
Aunt Lee and Uncle Buck welcomed us with open arms. It was such a great trip. We are so happy that we made it. She hadn't changed that much, still a beautiful Lady. I will see her again someday. Love you Aunt Lee.

Where do I begin to say the right words about Aunt Lee. My memories are few but I can say she was the sweetest Aunt she could be. My Dad, Lawrence, was her oldest Brother . I always saw her as a happy person, always with a smile. I remember her and Grandma Trenary making me a few dresses, which made me happy. I spent a whole school year with her one year when my Mom and Dad ( Lawrence and Ida Trenary) had to work and my sisters and brother were in school. I spent many days away from my family but Aunt Lee and Rex ( her husband at the time ) took good care of me and Grandma and Grandpa Trenary too. One night I rember being very sick and had to get up during the night and got sick in a bucket that was kept under the sink to catch the water that drained out of the sink. That sounds a bit odd but we were staying in a modular home build by my Dad and it was parked right next to Grandma and Grandpa's house. They sure had their hands full with me.
After a while Aunt Lee moved away and the next thing I knew Grandma Trenary was going out to Colorado for the birth of Shirley. I stayed with Grandpa because he was suffering with Palsy and couldn't be by himself. Grandma was gone for awhile and I'm sure she was enjoying her new Granddaughter , Shirley .
We were able to connect a few times but not much being she was so far away.
Thanks to my Grandson, Michael , I was able to make it out to see her early in 2013 and again later in 2013 with my Son, Bart,- Sister, Edith- and Brother , Bob. I will never forget how sweet she was to me after all these years, like we had never been apart. I will always have a special place in my heart for her-- we will meet again !

Lee was a lovely woman who was a member at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Oxnard, and after she and Buck moved I sent her the church newsletter for years. We exchanged notes after that, sharing memories of others who were members when she lived here. Lillian Elswick

A Tribute to my Aunt Lee:
You were not only an Aunt but my Mom and Best Friend. You always made sure I was taken care of, even quitting your job to care for me after my Mothers death. I can never thank you enough for all you did for me.
You were a beautiful, classy woman who always looked like a million bucks even when there were times when you didn't have much.
One of my fondest memories was when my daughter (Kristy Hyte) and daughters-in-laws (Chris Campbell) and (Juliane Campbell) and I came to Auberry to surprise you for your 90th birthday.
You taught me many good lessons in my life and I will love you always for that.
Thanks for being such an important part of my life.
Love you always,
Jan Campbell (niece)

What a wonderful tribute to Aunt Lee. I have great memories of spending many weekend trips to Citrus Heights to visit Aunt Lee, Uncle Buck and Shirley with my parents and brothers. Aunt Lee was always fun and classy.

Not too long after Lee began attending Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Oxnard, she became mostly homebound. Therefore, I went to see her about once a month and was pleasantly surprised when Buck came to the living room to join the conversation! While there, I remember feeling surrounded by gracious hospitality and loving people - always enjoying my visits. The entire congregation was sad to see them leave Oxnard. Pastor Mary Ann (retired)
