Leona McLean

Leona McLean, 99, passed away peacefully in her home with her son and caregiver by her side on Friday, January 15, 2016. She was the wife of the late Manus F. McLean with whom she shared 34 years of marriage at the time of his passing in October, 1971 Born on June 25, 1916, in North Bangor, she was a daughter of the late Luthur and Mabel Labar Shook. Leona devoted her time to her home and family, and was a loving wife and mother. An avid bear collector, she acquired such an extensive collection over the years that she eventually donated a good portion to charity. She also enjoyed playing bingo and knitting. Leona is survived by her sons, Patrick D. McLean and his wife Elise of Florida, Thomas D. McLean of Richmond, VA, and Terry McLean of Wind Gap, with whom she resided. Also surviving is a Grandson, Dale McLean, and two Great-granchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two sons, Dale McLean in 1961, and Brian McLean in 1989, a sister, Alverta Shoemaker, and a brother, Arnold Shook. Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 am on Wednesday, January 20, in the Schmidt Funeral Home, 202 West Street, Wind Gap. A funeral service will begin at 11 am in the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Dean D. Frey officiating.
