BOEHM LEONARD "WHITEY"

On Saturday, September 1, 2018. Born October 28, 1923, went home to join his beloved wife, Irene. Whitey was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Irene (Shandrick); daugher, Kathy Boehm Pahler (Regis); brother, Vincent Boehm; sister, Deloris (Boehm) Hons; dear friends, James and Wanda Fuchs; parents, Leonard W. and Irene (Snyder) Boehm; parents-in-law, Suzanne (Dupnak) and Peter Shandrick; brothers-in-law, Frank Shandrick (Madeline), William Shandrick (Marilyn Smith), James Shandrick (Linda Gizzi), Curtis Thomas (Deloris Shandrick), Donald O'Connor (Virginia Shandrick); and sisters-in-law, Virginia (Shandrick) O'Connor, Joanne Shandrick (Peter), and Gloria "Babes" Boehm (Vincent). Whitey is survived by daughter, Karen Boehm Piccioni (Pat), and son Leonard (Terry); seven grandchildren, Alysia Piccioni (Matthew), Kara Piccioni, Patrick Piccioni (Jennifer), Jana Pahler and Joshua Pahler, Sara Boehm Shanahan (Dan), Jeremey Boehm (Jennifer) and eight great-grandchildren; Nathan Piccioni, Patrick Piccioni, Kaytlyn Piccioni, Caden Boehm, Jaxon Boehm, Kellen Boehm, Eden Shanahan and Daniel Shanahan. Whitey worked for the city of Pittsburgh construction department for 27 years and three and a half years for the county controllers office as a construction engineer. He was an elected constable for the 29th and 32nd wards for sixteen years. He served for over 30 years as a magisterial district judge of Pittsburgh, PA and was president of the district justice association for six years. Whitey served with the Pittsburgh parking authority part time until 2013. Throughout his long and public career, he contributed to the welfare and well being of the citizens of this commonwealth. He lived by the creed "If you can't help someone, don't hurt them". He was a man of integrity and fairness. He was a member of VFW Brentwood Post 1810, the American Legion Post 663, Order of the Eagles and several social organizations. Whitey is a WW II honoree. He served in the US Navy on six ships and participated in seven major battles in the Pacific. He received three commodations for courage and devotion to duty. Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUER'S.
