Leonard Campos

Leonard Campos passed away peacefully at home after a short illness. Born in Puerto Rico, and raised in New York City, he earned his PhD in Clinical Psychology at Michigan State University in 1963. That year he moved his family to Stockton, CA. where he was an assistant professor at University of the Pacific. Leonard then served as a staff psychologist for the California Youth Authority. While building a successful private practice, he received his Diplomate in Clinical Psychology.

He authored two influential books on Transactional Analysis and became a teaching member of ITAA founding The Sacramento Institute for Redecision Therapy.

He is survived by his long-time companion Patricia Tocher; son, David Campos; daughter, Barbara Gates; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Irma Larsen of Plymouth, MA. He is predeceased by his daughter, Elizabeth Alexander, and his grandson, Jack Gates.

Leonard fought for social justice in his writing, teaching, and life. He was a highly respected therapist, and loved to dance. He will be missed for the warmth he brought to those around him.
