Words have escaped me learning the loss of Scott. He was such a great mentor, friend, and colleague. Thinking about his family and hoping they find peace.

Some people live long lives. And then there are people whose lives illuminate the path for others. Scott was the latter. He was funny as hell, cussed as a sailor, and could make friends with everyone in a room. At our last dinner, we laughed, made fun of spreadsheets, and made grand plans. The very next day, life turned on a dime...
Our language, while powerful, fails to convey the depth of the loss no matter how skillfully one strings the words... Let's plant some trees. They last longer.

I was lucky enough to work with Scott during his time at CRISPR. He was incredibly thoughtful, hardworking, and always cheerful no matter how early we had to start an audit. Working with Scott was a joy and I´m crushed that he is gone.

I started at Vertex shortly after Scott. We found that we had many friends in common from previous companies. We enjoyed talking about our mutual friends, our roles, and our children. He went out of his way to make sure I felt welcomed and supported. He was a kind person and I will miss his friendship. My heartfelt condolences to his family.

To the Clark family: I am so, so sorry to hear of Scott's passing. We worked together for nearly 5 years at Gentris and he was a treasured colleague to whom I owe much of my own career. Despite the distance over the last decade, we had stayed in touch and it was always so wonderful to see a message from him - we spoke last only two months ago. I still can't eat peanut M&M's without thinking of him. Please accept my deepest condolences.

Dear Regina, Catherine and Abigail. I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Scott from his time at Sangamo and can say he was one of the most genuinely nice people I have met. He was always very supportive. We had fun setting the world right in chats between meetings. I was touched that he still spent time staying in contact with his ex colleagues. He will be missed.

Scott became my manager in 2024 when he joined Vertex. He was someone I could rely on not only for work but was also someone who i could chat to freely about just about everything.
His love for his family shined through and he was so proud of his daughters and I wish i had had the time to get to know him and them more. He will be greatly missed by all his fellow Vertexians.
I can´t imagine the pain his family are going through but if all we are, are the memories we leave behind Scott will be remembered as a giant amongst men.

We never met Scott in person but John, Regina´s brother and Marie, Regina´s Ma are very dear and longtime friends time friends of us. John and I worked together at the FRA airport. I visited his Ma and Dad in Lebanon NH. And I was a frequent donator when John was running for the UK kidney research. We never lost contact even after I married and moved to live with my husband in Maine. We are shocked that Scott was so suddenly and unexpectedly robbed out of his life way too soon. We had been looking forward to seeing the Clark and Glosto family in Boston MA as it is so much closer to us. We grief with the whole family for this loss and keep them in our thoughts and prayers. Der Herr gebe Scott die ewige Ruhe und das ewige Licht leuchte ihm, Herr lass ihn ruhen in Frieden. There are no words in German or English which will take the pain and sadness away. Please don´t hesitate to reach out to us if there is anything we can do to help in this difficult time. With deepest sympathy Bella and Paul

Scott was a neighbor, friend and adoptive parent of Booboo our cat while we were overseas. The Clarks were the original shade sitters at the KF pool, and so this is why we sat in that area.
Scott would always share funny liberal memes or videos. And he was such a supportive swim dad. He was so generous with his time that even if Abby wasn't swimming for a summer swim meet, he would help cover to be the Stroke and Turn Judge.
He will be missed terribly. He was an amazing human being.

This is so heartbreaking. I still vividly remember when he first joined Sangamo. We were ERG booth neighbors, and he brought such warmth and passion. He was a proud representative, a true ally, and someone who genuinely cared about creating a more inclusive and welcoming workplace. Scott´s face always lit up when he shared stories about his family and how they celebrated cultural traditions. My heartfelt condolences to his family and everyone whose lives he touched.

There is nothing that I can say to help you through this tragic loss. He was an amazing person always smiling. Scott, Kellee Kerr and I had so much fun as kids. At Family gatherings we all sat at a kids picnic table it was yellow, green and orange, I was in varsity singer in school so after school we would walk to his house and he would play the piano and I would sing. The best was when all three of us pilled into our Aunt Jean Chamis car and drove by our house hanging out the window yelling beep, beep!!!! my aunts horn didn't work. We got in a lot of trouble for that one. Rest in peace Scotty, till we meet again

Scott and I were colleagues at Gentris. He was a great motivator, mentor, and always so positive which made a world of difference when things were not so great. We traveled a lot for work as a team and delayed flights were never an issue as he always made the best of the situation. To this day, every time I go through Charlotte airport or EWR, I think of him based on the places we avoided or gravitated towards. Thanks to him, I tried my first martini! He was always the life of the party and a great relationship builder. Even after I left NC, we kept in touch and he even got some of us old colleagues together to celebrate my birthday in NC when I was traveling away from home. I am ever so grateful our paths crossed and sending Regina and girls a virtual hug!

Scott and I were colleagues at CRISPR and developed a friendship that I have treasured. We bonded over our mutual journeys of building our families through adoption. He was a source of comfort, guidance and mentorship during COVID. I loved his devotion to all things DEIB, his love of his family and the pride he took in doing his job well and with the utmost professionalism. I am devastated but feel so lucky to have known such a great man.

Dearest Regina,
I first met Scott at HWS during the prelude to our freshman year. I remember the computer lab with the TRS-80s, printing on micro prefer dot matrix paper, brown-sugar cinnamon pop tarts, and wings...always wings. You both are a part of my youth, my life, and my memories. When you moved to Colchester we enjoyed the challenge of the "pub with the many flavored beers", even the utterly crazy ones. Thinking about our escapades while tubing at the lake still makes JT and me laugh...especially "Mr. Happy." The notion that Scott is somehow not right around a corner idea is impossible to comprehend. Scott was a light and warm hug in a strange, wonderous, and scary place. He saw and was able to tease out silliness from the most mundane while flinging magic in the ordinary. We will miss him beyond measure. We surround you, Caitlyn and Abby with our love - now and forever.
