Leonard E. Sheppard, Sr. December 9, 1929 - March 28, 2012 Danielson - Leonard E. Sheppard, Sr., 82, of Danielson, formerly of Franklin, MA, died Wedn-esday, March 28, 2012 at the Masonic Home in Charlton, MA. He was born December 9, 1929 in Buffalo, NY, son of the late John and Mary (Gantress) Szczypkowski. He was the beloved husband of Alice (Getz) Sheppard. They were married September 4, 1954. Leonard was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Dayville. He was a Sr. Electrical Engineer for Ratheon Co. for many years. After retirement Leonard moved to Poland, ME, then later resided in Connecticut. Leonard was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving with the US Army. He was an avid golfer enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved playing the trumpet. He was a member of the Pomfret Rod and Gun Club. He raised seven children with his wife. He leaves his wife Alice Sheppard of Danielson, his five daughters: Dawn Pettinelli and her husband Paul of Charlton, MA; Susan Sheppard of Utah; Belinda Donohue and her husband Phil of Charlton, MA; Carol Mitchell-Boudreau and her husband Bob of Charlton, MA; Laura Sheppard and her husband Kevin Bathalon of Amherst, NH, his two sons: Christopher Sheppard of Southbridge, MA; Leonard Sheppard, Jr. of Wilmington, MA, four brothers: Chester Sheppard; John Sheppard; Ronald Szczypkowski; Fred Sheppard, grandchildren: Caitlin; Emily; Carlyn; Chance; Sydney and Phillip. He was predeceased by a brother Ted Sheppard and a sister Delores Urbanski. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 10:00 AM from the Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, 350 Hartford Pike, Dayville. Calling hours will be Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. To share a memory with his family "Light a Candle" at www.gagnonandcostellofh.com
