Lenny was a very dear friend and a great ambassador for polka music. I have many very fond memories of Minnesota and performing there because Len & Elvie cared so deeply and loved seeing people happy.



Elvie, I and polka music will miss him very much.

Elvie, You have my deepest sympathy at the passing of Len. I remember going in the music store when I was young and stopping at the Elmwood when I was home on leave from the service. The last time I thought about Len was when I had the opportunity to chat with Myron Florin at the "Wurstfest" in New Braunfels, TX where Myron celebrates his birthday.He asked about Len, Lorren L. and other polka people from Cloquet.

Dearest Elvie, So sorry to hear of Lens passing. It brought back so many memories of our days at the farm in Atkinson and the great times we all had at the Elmwood.It doesn't seem possible that so many years have passed. Please accept my deepest sympathy.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Len's wife and family members. As a musician I came to know Len from the Elmwood Inn day's working with some of the nations top polka bands. He was a kind person that loved music. It was a privilege to have known him. He will be missed.

I will always remember Len and the stories he and my Father shared over the years. It was at Len's Elmwood Inn that my Mother and Father met. Len will never be forgotten. He was a great man.

Our deepest sympathy to Elvie, what a loss to the Polka world. He kept Polka music alive in the north country. We enjoyed his Sunday radio show and the great variety of music. We are so shocked to read this. We won't be back until the 24th of May due to some surgery Marv had in March. Our prayers are with you.

Sending my prayers and deep sympathies to Len's family. I just wanted you to know that I often have remembered when my sisters were young and we sang on his radio station, The Polish Hour (if I recall it correctly). We sang a song called The Vagabond Waltz, that began with "Oh I danced and I sang on the highway, and I waltzed to the song of the trees ... ". We had been brought in by my Uncle Bill Bookin, who was friends with Len, and who visited the Inn occasionally.



I have lived in BC, Canada, for over 25 years, now, but memories of that radio station visit still float through my mind at times. My life is full of music, though it is more Celtic these days, and part of it has been as a music teacher. I have performed music in other radio stations and made a cd since those Cloquet days, but I'm sure that Len can claim a small part of this!
