40 years ago I met Carmel as teacher in Peel. My wife Jane instantly embraced our new friends and loved Leo for his kindness and sense of humour. Leo's hobby farm in Milton was a magical place.

Leo Euwen was my grandpa, or in dutch, my opa. I will miss him forever but I know that he's not really gone. He is still with me, my family, and everybody that knew him in our hearts. I remember all of the memories of him on the farm. I remember watching T.V. with him in his living room and him sitting at the head of the dining table, making jokes at dinner to make everybody laugh. I remember walks with him in the woods and feeding hay to the animals-the two horses, Dannyboy and Napolian, the donkey, and the six goats in the barn. I remember he used to push me on the swing at the farm and riding the tractor with my seven-year-old brother Carter and him playing silly games with me, Carter, and my cousins, Seamus, Elle and Ivy. I will never forget his sense of humour. He used to put pots on his head and bang on them with wooden spoons, put party hats on over his nose and mouth, and pencils between his nose and lips as mustaches to make everybody laugh. He was as amazing as he was funny, building his barn for his animals and the outdoor fireplace with his hands and bringing smiles to everybody's faces. His death was devastating, but I've known Leo for almost twelve years now and I know that he wouldn't want me, or anybody, to be sad. I was his first grandchild and I will never forget him as long as I live, even if I live to be 100 years old. I love you, Opa. I will love you and miss you always.
