Leonello Ernesto Pellegrini

Mel Pellegrini died in Charlotte, NC on January 1, 2023 after a brief illness. He was born and raised in Quincy, Massachusetts where he attended Quincy High School and then Fitchburg State Teachers College. He taught automotive mechanics at Quincy Vocational School for many years until he retired. Never one to sit still, he became a builder and constructed multiple houses on the South Shore of Boston.

Mel was married to the late Lucy Pellegrini of S. Boston and, after her departure from this earth, he married the late Alice Chrobak of Weymouth. He was a long-time resident of Hingham until he moved to Charlotte, NC.

Mel is survived by his two sons, Joseph Pellegrini of Charlotte, NC and his wife Valerie, David Pellegrini of Kingston, Massachusetts and his wife Pam, his sister Amy Hayford of Weymouth, his grandchildren, Michael Pellegrini of California, Marion Pellegrini of California, Angela Raciti of Idaho, Torey Pellegrini of Texas, Peter Pellegrini of Massachusetts, Stephen Pellegrini of Nevada, Maria Pellegrini of New Hampshire, Joey Pellegrini of California, Nick Pellegrini of California, and four great grandchildren.

Mel's life-long passion was music. He was an accomplished accordion player. He performed professionally with many well-known musicians and for many famous personalities including President Ronald Regan's inaugural banquet in Washington, DC. Mel enjoyed making people happy with his music! At the age of 94, he kindled many friendships and became a local icon at Cafe Monte, Charlotte, NC.

Mel loved the Lord! In his later years, he always wore a set of Rosary Beads around his neck. He will be greatly missed by those whom he loved!
