Mr. Smith's daughter, Donna Smith Dougherty, has been my best friend for life; over 50 years. I met her on the first day of school, when she got on the bus, and sat near me. That evening I rode my pony to their home in Hadley, and met Mr. Smith for the first time. He joked with me about my mode of transportation. That was the beginning of many times in his household.
The Smith family home was my second home while they were in Hadley. Once when I was invited to eat a meal with the family, I thought we were having roast beef... and after I ate a couple of bites, he asked me how the meat tasted, and then told me it was moose or bear, not sure which! I was not sure what to say!
I will never forget the last few visits with Donna to see her parents in Grove City. Mr. Smith was very wise with his words, and loving with his family. I appreciated that he knew my life as Donna's friend, and how much I valued him, and their family, too.
He is missed very fondly.

I have known thus family since they lived in Hadley, PA. Donna and I were in 6th thru 9th grade in school together. We remain long time friends today. Mr. Smith was a hard-working man all of his life. I remember him best as a truthful man that was authentically himself. He cared deeply for his wife and his family. He always told me exactly what he was thinking. I appreciated that in him. Love to his whole family. In Jesus.' name. Sandra K Pottorf

My thoughts and prayers for all of his family. I always enjoyed when he would come into the office.
