Leslie O. Warner the son of Virgil and Mable (Arnett) Warner was born February 26, 1932 at Booker, Texas. He departed this life on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Bryan LGH East in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 77 years. As a young boy Leslie attended schools in Booker, TX, Gate, OK, Medicine Lodge, KS and moved to Burr Oak, Kansas graduating from high school there. On July 22, 1951 Leslie was united in marriage to Lona Craven. This union was blessed with the birth of five sons. Leslie attended Friends Bible College in Haviland, KS, and returned to Jewell County to farm with his family for a short while. Leslie then moved to Portland, OR for 5 years entering the ministry as an assistant pastor. Leslie and Lona served many communities: Hay Springs, NE, 5 years; Grinnell, Iowa 4 years; Scranton, IA, 3 years, Riverton, KS for 2 years; and Tongonxie, KS, 3 years. The couple then returned to Burr Oak, KS where Leslie farmed and worked at Burr Oak schools as a custodian. Leslie also worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation. He became the minister at the Mankato Southern Baptist Church. After leaving the church in Mankato, Leslie worked as a fill in minister at various congregations before moving to Superior, NE where he ministered to the Superior and Guide Rock Baptist Churches before his retirement. Leslie enjoyed hunting and being in the out of doors. Leslie had always been a farmer at heart, harvest was his favorite time of year. He held a deep passion for doing his pastoral work and enjoyed fellowship with his congregation and friends. Leslie however never allowed any of this to diminish his first love that for his family, he always cherished time spent with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents and son Alvin Dean. Survivors include his wife Lona of Superior, NE; sons: Darrell Warner and wife Belinda of Liebenthal, KS; Ronald Warner and wife Deanna of Galena, KS; Carl Warner and wife Debra of Downs, KS; Randy Warner and wife Leanna of Aurora, NE; sisters LaVeta Winslow of Mankato, KS; Doretta Meek of Springfield, MO; brother Clarence Warner of Norman, OK; 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, many nephews, nieces, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held this Friday 2:00 PM, April 24, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Superior, NE. The Rev. Floyd Richardson will be officiating. Burial will be held in the Northbranch Cemetery, Northbranch, KS. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9 am to 8 pm at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, NE. Memorials to the family. Martha currently resides near Princeton, NJ with her husband Yang and daughter Lydia (age 13). Their son Kris (18 yrs.) attends college in Washington, DC.
