WEST COLUMBIA - Graveside service for Lester Boyd Ferguson, Jr., 87, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2014, in Woodridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.
Mr. Ferguson died Saturday, May 17, 2014. Born in Rock Hill, he was a son of the late Lester B. Ferguson, Sr. and Alleen Collins Ferguson. Mr. Ferguson served in the Navy during WWII and was employed by Southern Railroad as an engineer until his retirement. He was a member of Lodge #793, Sinclair Masonic Lodge 154, VFW, the American Legion, and the First Baptist Church of West Columbia.
Surviving are his son, Donald A. Ferguson (Vicki) of Longwood, Fla.; daughter, Mary Less Burke of West Columbia; two grandchildren, Michael A. Burke, Brian H. Burke; one great grandchild, Reagan A. Burke; and sister, Betty F. Fincher of Charleston.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Ila Dickerson Ferguson and brother, John Ferguson.

Mr. Ferguson was a great neighbor, he always had something kind to say to me and I remember his smile.

I will miss your dad so much. I love how good he was about coming to see Grandmama and how the two of them would laugh until tears ran down their cheeks. Thinking of you all.

Mary less and don, I have such fond memories of your family growing up on saluda St. Your Mom and Dad and grandparents were so very good to the Gilbert girls!
