Lewis Bigler Obituary

Rev. Mr. Lewis R. Bigler passed away on April 22, 2016.

He was the beloved husband of 61 years to Sylvia (nee Shay) Bigler; dear father of Brian C. (Ted Raia) Bigler, Randall L. (Kerri) Bigler and Julie K. (Glenn A.) Bigler-Wakefield; grandfather of Mack L. Bigler, Casey L. Bigler-Kelley, Tyler F. Wakefield, Adam E. Wakefield and the late Erin K. Bigler; brother of Jeanette (David) Comstock; brother-in-law of Leah (Carl) Schlipf; and he is also survived by three nieces and a nephew.

Friends may call on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Dengler, Roberts, Perna Funeral Home, 8630 Transit Rd. (one mile north of Maple Rd.), East Amherst, N.Y. Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at North Presbyterian Church, 300 North Forest Rd., Williamsville, N.Y. If desired, contributions may be made to North Presbyterian Church. Just found out Lew Bigler passed away and my heart sunk. I used to call him "Doc" even though he wasn't technically a doctor. This man was a bright light in a sea of darkness. Truly a one in a million type of person with such intelligence and empathy for others. He made a difference in my life and I'll never forget him. - God Bless!

Lew was a tremendous help to me during some of my darkest days. He could give you that smile that just made everything right. He was the only one who prayed with my Mom at Roswell. He truly was a comfort to others. I know he's shining down on everyone. Although I didn't know his family, my prayers are with all of you.

Your Dad was always nice to me while we were all causing trouble on Culpepper. Countless times playing hockey, rough-housing in the house, playing on the yard or in the pool. Plus, he always had the coolest car in the neighborhood. Extremely generous and never cross. I am sure the whole Culpepper crew has found memories to carry forward.
