Lewis Addison Comer

LEWIS ADDISON COMER Lewis Addison Comer, (85), loving husband, dad and grandfather, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2016 after recently being diagnosed with melanoma cancer. Lewis was born on May 28, 1931 to Lula Douglass and Lewis Samuel Comer in Roanoke, Virginia. He grew up in Roanoke, where he would trap muskrats and play in Tinker Creek with his brother EC. In his teenage years, he was introduced to his favorite sport, golf. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, in which he spent 20 years. In 1960, he met the love of his life Marit Hauge in Omaha, Nebraska. They soon married, and had two children, Finn and Eric. The family was stationed at March Air Force Base, Guam, Texas and Kansas. Lewis retired from the Air Force in 1971, then settled in Riverside, California. He then started his second career as a Real Estate Broker. Lewis and Marit loved taking cruises with family and friends. This past summer of 2016, they enjoyed a Mediterranean cruise for their 55th wedding anniversary with their son, daughter-in-law, five granddaughters, and family from Norway. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Ann Comer. He is survived by his wife, Marit Comer; brother, Edward Cornelius Comer; sons Finn (Holly) Comer, Eric (ex wife Dawn) Comer and granddaughters, Paige, Carly, Molly, Emilie and Hanna Comer. There will be a private burial at Riverside National Cemetery. A celebration of life for Lewis will be held in the spring. Donations can be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
