MERIWEATHER - Mr. Lewis Meriweather, aged 58, of Grand Rapids, MI passed away and went to be with his Lord on Thursday, October 23, 2003. He will be sadly missed by all of his family, Ruby Meriweather of Detroit; his children - son, Lew of Jenison, Brian of Detroit; daughters, Melinda and Miranda both of Detroit; his parents, Lewis I. and Beatrice Meriweather of Washington, PA; his sister, Arvonie Meriweather of Washington, PA; sister, Zearolean Meriweather of Chicago, IL; his brother, Marvin of Pittsburgh, PA; and brother, James Meriweather of Dallas, TX and two grandchildren, Cecil Chapman and Ariel Meriweather. Mr. Meriweather was preceded in death by his two sisters, Nancy Meriweather and Mildred Meriweather. He earned a Master degree in Counseling and School Administration from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, MI. Mr. Meriweather served as a City Commissioner of Grand Rapids, MI from January 1986 thru December 1993. Most recently, he was a political science and government instructor at Grand Rapids Community College. Family will receive visitors Friday, October 31, 2003 from 12 noon to 6 p.m., and a public memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2003 at 12 noon at Brown's Funeral Home, Ltd., 627 Jefferson Ave. SE, Grand Rapids, MI. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Brown's Funeral Home in care of Mr. Lewis Meriweather. Burial services will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2003 in Washington, PA at Washington Cemetery.
