Liesel Katherine Dinges English was born February 25, 1927 in Pirmasens, Germany to Karl and Katharine Dinges. Liesel was raised in Germany with her two brothers, Rudi and Karl. She lost her mother at age 16 and later her younger brother Rudi to the war. Liesel went to work for the American Army as a telephone operator and interpreter. During this time, she met Glen English, an MP stationed in Kiseslauden, who would later become her husband. On May 20, 1956 Liesel came to the United States. She loved this country and was a faithful patriot from the time she arrived at Ellis Island. Liesel began as a telephone operator at Parkland Memorial Hospital but through hard work and dedication, rose to the ranks of Director of Communications. Around the hospital she was known to all as Ms. "E". For 32 years she had a successful career at Parkland and retired from the hospital at the age of 72.She had four children; Rudi Hoelzer, Katrina, Glenda and Richard. She raised her family in Carrollton, Texas at her home on Angelridge Cove where she loved working in her yard with Jim Acree. She was a great cook, loved stitching, football, participating in the Red Haters and later learned to love Wi-bowling. Mom also loved to go gambling and made frequent trips with her granddaughter Reisa to the Windstar Casino. During her later years, Liesel found a new home at Prestonwood Court. Here she developed wonderful friendships with both the staff and residents. She was very happy at Prestonwood and blessed to be surrounded by such great friends and caregivers.Liesel is survived by her three children: Rudi Hoelzer, Katrina English, Glenda Simons and her favorite Son-in-law, Terry Simons.
