Just happened to Google her name a few minutes ago. What a shock. I enjoyed the time we spent together as cousins and co-workers at J M Fields in Concord. Hope she left this world a happy person in her heart.

Dear Family,
Lila's spirit of joyfulness, honesty, and expansive humor will live on in our minds and hearts when we remember her. We are sorry for you loss.

This memory is especially for all the lovely people who knew Lila from her time working at Bradlees. I was lucky enough to visit Lila twice during 2010 and during one of those visits I took a picture of two of her awards that she received from Bradlees in those days. She thought it was funny that I took the picture. I took the picture because I thought it was funny they were hanging in the bathroom. Just one of the hundreds of jokes we had between us. The award says:

BRADLEES PROUDLY RECOGNIZES THE DEDICATION OF ITS ASSOCIATES WITH ITS GOLD

"B-THE-BEST" Award

THE FOLLOWING ASSOCIATE HAS DISPLAYED THE COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE THAT CUSTOMERS OVER THE YEARS HAVE COME TO EXPECT FROM BRADLEES EMPLOYEES. IT IS WITH PRIDE THAT WE INSCRIBE THIS NAME.

I am with you in spirit when you miss Lila.
I am wondering how you are feeling, hoping that you're coping and maybe getting a little better each day. I love(d) Lila with all my heart and am sending you sympathy, encouragement, affection and strength. Lila was the most unique individual I have ever met and with her I had some of the most fun I have ever had. I struggle with the thought of a world without her in it. I look forward to the day when we are reunited.

I was so sorry to hear about Lila's death. I cherish the memories I have of my teenage years camping with Lila, Mark & Lori. Many nights playing cards at the picnic table next to the campfire. Lila always there with us. Summers with the Sandoe's, Sbuttoni's and the Caswell's are woven into my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

Dave, Mark & Lori,

I have known all of you for most of my life. Your family was like my own since Lila and my mom (Jane) were so close and best friends.

When I called today the news about Lila passing away just doesn't seem real yet. I am so sorry that I didn't know about it earlier. She will be missed by so many people, but she is in a better place. I can sort of see Lila and my mom up in Heaven just talking and laughing. I hope that is what is happening.

Dave, if there is anything that I can do please let me know. Lila will never be forgotton, but neither will you.

Please know that my prayers are with you and yours.

Love, Nancy Hunt

As a new year begins we look back at the one just passed and we have memories. Here's one:
The time is after the tree is up and trimmed and presents wrapped. I hear her bedroom door open. She will pass through the living room on her way to the kitchen and take her reading and insulin dosage. I jump up and and give her a big hug and say, "Good morning 'Lil." It's a long hug before she lets go and continues on to the kitchen. Did she know her time was short? I believe she did.
It is hard to say goodbye, but knowing Lila is at peace sustains me now.
Thanks to all who have taken the time to add their own memories. I will read them over and over. I encourage others to put their thoughts here as well.

Dear Dave:
Thank you for sending the picture of Lila. We appreciate the time you took to enclose the letter. It was very thoughtful on your part!
You know Lila was a one of a kind. She treasured her family above all else. Yet she was special to many others. She had a knack with people as proven by the award she received at Bradlees. She was the best service desk person. She could turn an irate customer into a satisfied customer in just a moment.
She never forgot birthdays. It always amazed me. Years after Bradlees closed she remembered and sent cards. What a wonderful gift to be remembered in such a way by such a special person.
Lila made a huge difference in her world and will be truly missed by many!
Please accept our sincerest sympathy for the huge loss you are experiencing
Sincerely,
Ed & Connie Pouliot

I worked with Lila at Bradlees in the 1980s. We used to joke about the afghans she'd make for people who were getting married - I told her as much as I loved her afghans, I wouldn't get married just to receive one. When I left Bradlees, she gave me an afghan!
Lila had a large following of regular customers. I think many of them came to the store just to socialize and have a few laughs - she had that effect on people.
Thank you, Lila, for your kindness, your smile, the laughs, and the wonderful afghan. Be at peace, my friend.

Lila and I were classmates at Pembroke Academy all those years ago, and I still remember what a wonderful, irreverent sense of humor she had. She was so much fun to be around, and although we had few chances to visit as adults, those times were just as much fun. Lila was one in a billion, and I will remember her with great affection.

Lila, the night owl. I remember years ago staying up to the wee hours playing cards with her and Dick. She will no longer suffer the pain that has plagued her in recent years. She is in a better place but will be remebered and missed always.

Thanks so much for the warm afghan and mittens. I will hold them forever close to my heart. They sure do come in handy on these cold nights. I will miss you laugh and hilarious stories.
