Worcester -

Sr. Liliana DiLiddo of the Venerini Sisters was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, January 24th, at Memorial Hospital in Worcester. Born in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Nina DiLiddo –Molinari and Frank D. DiLiddo, she grew up in Worcester. Sr. Liliana was among the first graduates of Venerini Academy when it was a high school for girls. She joined the Venerini Sisters in 1949 and was professed in 195l.

Sr. Liliana earned her B.A. at Catholic Teachers College in Providence, RI and an M.Ed. at Fitchburg State College, specializing in Reading. She was a member of the International Reading Association.

Though teaching in various schools in the Albany and Providence Diocese, the greatest number of years was in the Worcester Diocese at St. Anna's in Leominster and Venerini Academy in Worcester. Sr. Liliana taught in nursery school through grade three, but first grade was her specialty. She loved the little children and was loved by them. Her way with them was like that of a mother, wanting to help all of her children to be their best. She also taught CCD classes in the various parishes where she was. Despite numerous health problems and physical pain, Sr. Liliana wanted to teach for as long as she could, leaving only when her failing health required it. She then went to the Presentation Healthcare Center in Leominster where she enjoyed the loving care and community of the Sisters and staff there until physical complications made it necessary for her to move to St. Mary's in Worcester.

Besides her Religious Sisters in the Venerini Congregation, Sr. Liliana is survived by her brother Frank DiLiddo of Hardwick, MA, her sisters-Susan Todisco of Brooklyn, Elizabeth Iacono and Ann Molinari of Colts Neck, NJ-her aunt, Leda Lopopolo of Worcester and her loving nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at the Fusaro Memorial Chapel at Venerini Academy, 23 Edward Street, with calling hours from 4- 7P.M. on Friday, January 29th and a Funeral Liturgy on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. in the chapel. Burial will follow in St. John's cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Venerini Academy or to the Venerini Sisters Retirement Fund. I remember 1979 back in the 1ST GRADE, Sr.Liliana had a meeting with my mother about my reading skills & her concern for me.26 years later I am overjoyed reading the word as a lector at MT.Carmel where she attended 8 AM Mass & she was so very proud to hear me reading so clear Scripture ,sitting in the front pews always with a smile.Little did I know "Reading" was her Major focus. She remembered all her students as if they were her own children & quite proud of us all.Rest in Love & Peace Sr.Liliana.You will always be in our memories & hearts.

In Devoted Memory in behalf of one of God's finest women so totally religiously consecrated to the love and heart of Her Lord, Jesus, I, her long ago priest and family friend, honor her as A Saint. She lived her life in and with and through Her Christ...touching souls so enrichingly, immensely deeply and compassionately.

We now look up to her in the heavens, her everlasting Home. There we seek her intercessory prayers.

As a Priest knowing the depth of her spiritual soul in union with Christ,Her beautiful life, she truly lived and soaked it in and for Christ.
In a Living everlasting Memory, she touched the souls and hearts of innumerable persons and the needs of all who met and experienced her presence which she had soaked in her Jesus.

In the long ago and everlasting memories of Sister and in union with her beloved family, all of whom I was a dear friend for so many years past, Post Graduate class mate, parish priest to her and family, I extend my most sincere condolences to her earthly departure. But the joy of joys, is that she is now in Heaven !

She was to so many, and to me, a sincere true and most devoted religious vowed sister. Her departure for us is a wound of suffering, but our faith teaches us that now she is where she lived and worked to be.

Let us now even though sad at her passsing for us, she is forever God's Living Saint. Let us pray to her to intercede for us... :Dear Sister, you were so true to your religiouis life among so many, you were a true dedicated Religious Lady ....Pray for us.

I will never forget Sister Liliana! She was the sweetest nun and so very loving to all the children with whom she came in contact. My mother, Christine, and she were great friends during her time at Saint Anna's in Leominster and I recall many happy memories at our home with Sister as one of the family. I will never forget her love for the big yellow "smiley-face" and how she decorated her classroom with that infectious expression of her happy soul. Remembering her, I too, will always smile. I was a student at Venerini Academy for many years. I fondly remembered being in first grade learning to read. Sister Liliana was one of the main reasons I have gone into teaching . I remember loving my early years at Venerini. And she has left a huge impression on my life. Most of all I remember our whole class singing together as Sr. Liliana roamed around her desk and the room... Dear Saint Anthony come around something is lost and must be found.
In my memories forever.

Sr. Lil,
Words cannot describe how sad I am. Not only were you at one point my teacher, but you were my neighbor and best friend. You came into my life when I was in preschool and never left my side since. I am so grateful to have our memories and will miss you immensely. I love you so much and I thank you for always being there for me throughout my life. You're the best. Love you.

To the DiLiddo Family and Venerini Community, Sister Liliana was my sons first grade teacher from 1989-1990 to this day Michael often mentions her name and always remembers the kindness she showed him. As a graduate of Venerini Academy myself some of my fondest childhood memories were in the classrooms at Venerini! May she now inspire the little angels up above ! Karen Fournier Ricardi

Dear DiLiddo Family and the Venerini Community,
I was a second grade student of Sister Liliana's in 1960 in Watervliet, New York at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School. Through the assistance of Sister Joanne Eneguess I was able to visit with Sister Liliana and have lunch together last April! It was a wonderful time. Amazingly she had remembered some of things I remembered. I am so grateful for that day. It was a beautiful life she chose and lived it to the end.
