Lillian Abare Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 27, 2025.
Lillian Elizabeth Abare, "Nanny", passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025, at the age of 88 in Manassas, VA. Born on May 31, 1936, Lillian's life was marked by her vibrant spirit and boundless enthusiasm for adventure. Known for her ever-present smile and infectious laughter, she could captivate anyone with her stories and zest for life.

Lillian had a profound love for animals and children, dedicating much of her time to various related causes. Her hobbies also reflected her passions; she was deeply involved in crafts and spent countless hours surrounded by animals, which brought her immense joy.

Lillian was surrounded by boundless love and joy, and to Stephen (Jay), Victoria (Justin), Shannon, and Christopher, she was affectionately and forever known as "Nanny." Her life was also deeply enriched by the presence of cherished family and friends who became like family to include: Shirley; Ivan and Nicole, along with their children, who held a very special place in her heart; Tammy; Lois and Joe, Thelma; Maria and Oscar and their daughters; and Pablo and his family. Their unwavering love, laughter, and companionship brought immeasurable happiness throughout her life.

A celebration of her life will be held on what would have been her 89th birthday, Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 2:00 PM. The service will take place at Dean Park Pavilion, located at 9501 Dean Park Lane, Manassas, VA 20110, directly to the right of the Boys and Girls Club.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Lillian's memory to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Forescue, Inc. (animal rescue and sanctuary), and the Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd (Sisters of the Good Shepherd) in New York. These organizations reflect her lifelong commitment to service and care for others, embodying the spirit with which she lived every day.
