Barnstable -

Lillian Peters, longtime resident of Scituate, MA, passed away December 9, 2023 at the age of 97. Lillian was born and raised in Pittsfield, MA, daughter of the late Frank and Kate (Lilburn) Clark and sister of the late Donald Clark. She was a proud 1947 graduate of Mount Holyoke College. She married John A. Peters II, who served 31 years as a pathologist at South Shore Hospital. Together they had six children.

An avid reader, Lillian was intelligent and compassionate with a strong sense of equity and fairness. She was tirelessly supportive of her children's activities and encouraged everyone to pursue any and all interests from baseball and gymnastics to ballet, music and art lessons, chess club and bowling.

Her support extended beyond family and she was an active and habitual volunteer, offering her time and considerable organizational skills to a variety of groups she valued. She led Girl Scout troops years after her own daughters finished scouting, supported the League of Women Voters, alumni organizations and many community social services organizations. Her most recent and favorite volunteer stint was at Sea Chest Consignment shop in Cohasset, where she worked until 2020 and had many friends.

Lillian was predeceased by her husband John and daughter Ann, and stepgrandchildren Kelly and Christina Molloy. She is survived by five children, John A. Peters III (Jack) and his wife Sharon Rudahl of Los Angeles, CA, Clark of Groton, CT, Lynn and her husband Peter Giorgetti of Cotuit, Stacey of Durango, CO and Michael of Charlton. She also leaves eight grandchildren, Jesse and William of CA, Megan (Ian LaVoie) and Kallie of CT, Daniel Giorgetti (Emily) of Falmouth and Lauren Giorgetti of RI, Thomas Molloy of NH and Cheryl Emerson of Whitman, and five great-grandchildren, Lillian Emerson, Harley and Gemma Giorgetti and Theodore and Avery LaVoie.
