VAGUE, Lillian Hazel (Lindberg) Lillian Hazel Vague passed away on January 16, 2004 in Vernon, B.C. at the age of 96 years. Born in Kingman, Alberta, Lillian was predeceased by her husband Harold in 1990; four brothers, Melvin, Stanley, Eddie and Freddie; three brothers-in-law, Luverne, Gordon, George and two sisters-in-law, Meta Lindberg and Inge Vague. Remembered by her loving family: three children, Gerald (Claudette), Larry (Pam) and Marilyn (Mel) Wakefield; 14 grandchildren, Rhonda, Randy, Kerri (Conley), Todd (Corey), Jodi (David), Jerry (Karen), Shelley (Raymond), Rena (Prescott), Jackie, Julie (Ken), Jeff, Wade, Shannon (Charlie), Duane (Gail). Also survived by 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers Lloyd (Cynthia) and Wallace (Gladys) Lindberg; two sisters, Viola Hauptman (Walter), Eileen Millang and two sisters-in-law, Bernice Vague, Verna Lindberg; numerous nieces & nephews. Lillian and her husband and family moved to St. Albert in 1948 and she lived there until 1980. She was a prominent school teacher, being the first Protestant teacher in the Sturgeon Division in St. Albert, where she was in teaching and administration until retirement in 1972. She was always active in community and church affairs. An avid sportslady who loved the outdoors, she taught the World Champion Curler, Hector Gervais his first curling lessons. Lillian and her husband and family travelled extensively and had various camping excursions. She retired to the Okanagan in 1980 where she curled, travelled and lived until her passing in January of 2004. A Celebration of Life Service will take place in Alberta on February 21 (2:00 p.m.) at St. Albert United Church with inurnment on February 22 at 2:00 p.m. in Westlawn Memorial Gardens in Edmonton. Reverend Scott Ague officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, 250-542-0155.
