Lillie Mae Young 74, of Conroe, TX; passed Apr. 19, 2023.
Services will be held Saturday, Apr. 29, 2023, at Borden Chapel Baptist Church 3495 Roland Rd. Beaumont, TX. Visitation will begin at 9AM until Funeral at 10AM. Interment will be in Anthony Cemetery Beaumont, TX.
On July 25th, 1948 in Evergreen Louisiana, Lillie Mae Dobbins Young was born to the late Thomas and Symeria Dobbins. Lillie would spend her childhood in Evergreen Louisiana, graduating from Carver High School in 1968. She was joined in Holy Matrimony to her first love, the late Manuel Dixon in 1968. After his passing, Lillie Mae would marry the late Michael Young and lived in Beaumont for the next 50 years.
Lillie was a very quiet and meek woman who had a love for the Lord. She was a prayer warrior for her family, standing in gap, constantly keeping her family lifted in prayer. Lillie served as a long-time member of Maxson Memorial Church of God in Christ in Beaumont, Texas. She later became a member of New Freedom Baptist Church in Woodville, Texas under the leadership of her Son-in-Law Pastor Grogan.
One of the most important things in Mom’s life was FAMILY, she loved her family, every single one of you here today. Lillie was preceded in death by her father Thomas Dobbins and mother Smyeria Dobbins, and 5 of her brothers. Lillie is survived by her 7 sisters (3 brother in laws) and 6 Brothers, 3 Children: son Manuel Dixon Jr., daughter Michelle (Charles) Grogan, daughter Margaret (Darius)Townsend. Lillie is survived by 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Lillie Mae found so much joy in being a mother and grandmother. During trying times this is where she drew her strength and would leave her legacy. She loved sharing her life lessons with those that would listen as she was a giver by nature. Keep your priorities straight. Keep that which is most important in focus, love and care for your family by letting them know in all the ways you can show them that you love them. Don’t let adversities or setbacks or any of the distractions of the world keep you from this most important aspect of life.
While we know that she is at peace and that her struggles have come to an end, there is still pain and sadness for those she left behind. Goodbyes are always hard and wish we had more time. But find comfort in knowing, she has left the legacy of her love and perseverance. If you do find yourself overcome with sadness or need some extra comfort, just pick up your TV remote and tune it to some of her favorite shows: Gun Smoke, Big Valley and Family Feud. The ways she touched our lives will remain, and I ask you to keep those memories alive by sharing them with us and with one another.

My sincere condolences to the family.
Ms. Lillie was such a kind and loving individual. She once lived in the senior community which I served as program coordinator. She and I hit it off as soon as we met. Though she moved from the community, we kept in contact by phone call or text. I thank her children (whom she adored) for sharing her with the Stone Hearst Senior Community. She was truly a gem and will be missed.
RIP sweetheart. ❤
