Linda Childers Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 15, 2025.
Linda "Lyn" aka the Nana Childers (Riley), age 72, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025, in Gold Canyon, Arizona. Born on October 9, 1952, in North Carolina, Lyn lived a life defined by compassion, strength, and an unwavering dedication to others.

Throughout her life, Lyn wore many hats-each one marked by her deep commitment to service and care. She worked as an accountant and later as a special education teacher, roles through which she touched countless lives with her patience and empathy. In Arizona, she continued her mission of support by teaching classes for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), offering guidance and hope to those navigating mental health challenges. Her ability to connect with people from all walks of life left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Lyn was known for her boundless love and generosity. Whether you were family or a stranger crossing her path for the first time, she had a remarkable way of making you feel seen and cherished. Her warmth radiated in every interaction-an enduring gift to those fortunate enough to know her.

In the last five years of her life, Lyn demonstrated extraordinary resilience by overcoming an extremely rare form of cancer. With renewed vigor, she embraced life with purpose and joy. She checked off many dreams from her extensive bucket list-most notably traveling to Italy-and made it a priority to spend meaningful time with each of her grandchildren.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Mark Childers of Gold Canyon, Arizona; siblings Cherry (Gary), Larry, Mary Lou, and Tim; and her children: Dom, Bobby (Jen), Michael, Tom, Michelle, David, and Kelly (Jeff). Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Aiden, Aubrey, Aliyah, Joseph, Lillian, Juliette, Bailey, Dylan, Liam, Jeren, Jaxten, Tyler, Mackenzie, and William.

A celebration of Lyn's life will be held in both Arizona and Illinois in the near future. The family will share details as plans are finalized.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lyn's honor to the National Cancer Society-a cause close to her heart.

May Linda "Lyn" Childers' memory bring comfort and inspiration to all who knew her.

So sad to see you go, but memories will carry on. You were part of our crazy family by marriage and no matter what the disagreements we still found laughter was the best medicine. Rest in peace.
