Linda Culverhouse Colvin, age 74, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 8, 2015, after a brief illness.

She is now flying with the angels. Her passing leaves a void in the lives of all who knew and loved her.

Linda was born February 3, 1941, at Lisenby Hospital in Panama City, FL. She grew up in St. Andrews with her siblings Sylvia, Bill, Steve, and Don, in a loving family. She attended St. Andrews Elementary School, Jinks Junior High School, and graduated from Bay High School.

In 1958, Linda met the love of her life, Alton Colvin, and they married June 2, 1961. After Alton graduated from Auburn University, they moved to Mobile, AL, where they welcomed two children, Rip and Cheri, before returning to Panama City, FL, in 1973. Linda and Alton recently moved to Tallahassee, FL, to be closer to their son, Rip, and his family.

Over the years, Linda worked in various positions while raising her children and supporting her family. After retiring from the Naval Coastal Systems Center, she volunteered for many causes and was recognized for her outstanding service to several volunteer organizations. In addition to her love for cooking, Linda was also an avid reader and game player, playing Scrabble, Bridge, Shanghai, and Backgammon. She made you earn it to win it.

Linda leaves behind her loving husband, Alton Colvin; son, Rip Colvin (Teresa); daughter, Cheri Benson (Jim) of Hampshire, England; sister, Sylvia Holley (Wayne); brother, Don Culverhouse; sister-in-law, Sheila Culverhouse; sister-in-law, Dot Rocher (Robert); sister-in-law, Carol Mapp (Kenny); and four grandsons: Logan Overstreet (26), Andrew Colvin (16), Alexander Benson (9), and Joseph Benson (8); plus many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mac Sollie Culverhouse and Viola Brown Culverhouse, and her brothers Bill and Steve Culverhouse.

A memorial service will be held Friday, December 11th, at 2:00 p.m., at Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Panama City, FL. Friends will be received at Panama Country Club, Lynn Haven, FL, immediately following services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.

Alton, Linda grew up across the bayou from me, and our families were close in St. Andrew School. Later on, you and I were in the 48th Infantry, "Hurricane." That was so long ago. Lord bless your family.
