My family moved to Lewiston Ca. In 1981, when I was six years old. Al and Linda were our only neighbors, and I instantly fell in love with both of them. Al taught me how to use a weed-eater and a lawn mower, then paid me to to maintain their property. Linda taught me to fly-fish, took me to fly-tying lessons, and treated me like her own son.
I had a love of science and the outdoors, and Linda helped cultivate that in every aspect of my childhood. I still have the finwick fly rod Linda gave me for graduation and the fly reel Al gave me a couple months later.
I was heart broken when they divorced, but understood and still loved them both.
I blew out my elbow my senior year, so after highschool I decided to work at an orphanage in Mexico. Linda picked me up in ElMonte on my way down, and took me for a "tour of LA". Somehow she pulled out her magic wand and we were able to tour the Rose Bowl. She and I played catch on the 50 yard line with nobody in the stands. It was amazing!!!!
10 years later she came to my rehearsal dinner and wedding in Sacramento. I never asked her for anything, and I never thanked her the way I should have, so I can only pray she knows how much she was loved. She might not have had her own biological children, but she was an amazing secondary mother to lots of is!!!

So many good memories of Linda. A favorite may be of the day a group of friends went to lunch, and she and Robin rather hi-jacked me to walk across the street to the Pasadena Humane Shelter to walk through the cat/kitten section. Robin imitated what a striped male cat might be saying to get noticed, and Linda joined in. He became Sydney, Linda was his godmother, and that day began a joyful 10 years of companionship for me and my pet.
Linda was always generous with her enthusiasms, her compassion, her gifts of friendship and interest. I miss her every day.

One of my earliest memories of Linda is being curled up in a cozy armchair with her dog Daisy, reading The Hobbit while the grownups talked after one of her wonderful dinners.
She always encouraged the bookworm in me, and I will always miss her.

One fond memory was visiting her years ago over a cup of tea in her lovely home. She taught me about organic gardening and gave me tips I taught my students. She was always extraordinarily nice to me . She will be missed.
