One of the best things about meeting Lynn Wiedow at NIU, was becoming friends with Linda as well. Some of the times we shared doing... well, "college things"... are some of my favorite memories, and I'm sure I've never laughed harder in my life. LOTS of hours playing "Trouble" and "Sorry", drinking wine (or beer), smoking, listening to great music and just having a blast throughout college- first year in the dorm and senior year when the girls were in an apartment together. (Not so much at the sorority house ).
One of the very funniest incidents was the three of us trying to play frisbee on the dorm lawn under less-than-sober conditions. Murf chased the frisbee Lynn had whipped high into the air and was so focused on catching the frisbee that she ran, full-throttle, into a tree. To say it was hysterical would be an understatement. Lynn and I couldn't help but laugh as we watched the scene unfold, laughing uncontrollably. Linda of course was a great sport about it. She didn't get hurt and naturally the frisbee went sailing by.
Linda was an open, honest, caring and genuinely very funny person yet serious about and committed to nursing. I always admired her for that. (And she gave me priceless advice about epidurals that paid off years later.)
Pictures 'back in the day' were typically reserved for vacations and special events so I don't have much; but I do have this one of the Oak Park girls together a baby shower, and more recently at a wedding when I was able to spend a great evening with Linda and Scott. Scott, my condolences to you and your girls.
Murf, you were one of a kind. Godspeed.

Linda was my roommate for four years of college at Northern Illinois University. We were besties! Her humor and love for life made my time at NIU a wonderful experience. We were sorority sisters for a time, both of realizing it wasn't our "thing". We made many friends together playing cards, backgammon, volleyball and our favorite - Trouble!
I will miss her greatly, but will always remember her with a smile on her face and a wise crack coming out of her mouth.
RIP, my dear friend.
