Linda Lake Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 3, 2023.

Surrounded by her family, Linda Lee (Theisen) Lake, 75, entered eternal rest on Feb. 28, 2023.

Linda was born on May 19, 1947, in Monroe, MI to Lavern and Joyce (Dyson) Theisen and was the oldest of seven children.  On June 18, 1966 she married Larry A. Lake at St. Paul's Methodist Church in Monroe.  The couple were married almost 56 years and raised three daughters.  Linda was the beloved mother of Natalie Rouleau, Jana Lake (Ron) Tyndall and Mandy (Larry) Sawyer. Her husband, children, grandchildren and great granddaughter were her greatest joy.

Linda held several jobs throughout her life, including working at Independent Dairy in Monroe where she met her future husband, Larry.  She worked at MAECO for several years before moving to North Carolina in 1983 where she worked with Pastor Frances Daniels at United Methodist Church for several years. She also worked for Pender County, and a Astro Travel Agency from where she retired. She was also on the Belvedere Homeowners Association Board and made a lot of positive changes to their community as well.

Linda enjoyed golfing for many years and was quite proficient having won a tournament or two.  She had facilitated charity golf tournaments as well. Linda was a huge supporter of the Wilson County Humane Society and believed all dogs should have a great home and supported every fundraiser they had along with food donations. Linda absolutely loved her beautiful flowers and was an avid gardener. She also loved caring for the wild birds by providing lots of bird baths and bird feeders. She even had squirrel feeders.

She loved her dogs, Sevie and Finn, and shared stories of them often.  In her later years, they became her children too.

Linda is survived by her loving husband Larry, her three daughters, grandchildren Katie (Adam Lea), Brandon Batson, Sam Sawyer, Brady Sawyer, Tori Stancil (Jason Stancil) great granddaughter Cora Lynn Lea, her brothers, Randy (Bonnie Theisen), Dave (Joan) Theisen, Scott (Julie) Theisen sister Sally (Mark) Gruber and brothers in law, Eric Painter, Ken (Debbie) Lake and Greg (Sonia) Lake, as well as her fur babies Sevie and Finn.  She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Nancy Bellg and Tammy Painter.

Memorial donations in Honor of Linda Lake can be made at either American Cancer Society of Wilmington 2202 Wrightsville Ave Ste 111 Wilmington, NC 28403 or Wilson County Humane Society PO Box 7064 Wilson, NC 27895.

I grew up living next door to Linda and Larry in LaSalle, Michigan. My first job was as their babysitter when Natalie and Jana were little and before Mandy was born. I have such fond memories of all those times. Linda was a lovely, sweet, funny, and caring person. It was wonderful living next door to their family. I was fortunate to have reconnected with Linda on Facebook and always enjoyed her posts with updates on her family and beautiful garden. My prayers are with Larry, Natalie, Jana, and Mandy and their families for continued strength during this time.
