Selma
Linda Vann Lassiter, age 66, of Selma died unexpectedly on December 12, 2018. Born in Nash County on May 5, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Roland and Mary Etta Williams Vann. Linda was also preceded in death by a sister, Yvonne Vann Price. Linda was valedictorian of her class at North Johnston High School and graduated Magna Cum Laude from East Carolina University. After graduation from ECU, she worked for Branch Banking and Trust Co., for 10 years in the Micro and Selma area. She was a longtime member of Selma Original Free Will Baptist Church, having started playing the piano for church at age 12. She has served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Treasurer and was active in the Women's Auxiliary. Linda was currently a member of the Johnston Community College Auditorium Board and the Johnston Community Foundation Board. She was also a member of the Friday Afternoon Book Club.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 14, at 6:00 PM at The Farm @ 95(the doors will open at 5:00 PM). The family will receive friends following the service. A private entombment will be at the Batten Family Cemetery at a later date.
Surviving are her husband of 44 years, Donnie E. Lassiter; her son Trent Lassiter; her daughter Sara Massey and her husband Michael; and two grandchildren, Emma and John Massey.
Memorial contributions may be made to Selma Original Free Will Baptist Church, P.O. Box 224, Selma, NC 27576 or to the Johnston Community College Foundation, P.O. Box 2350, Smithfield, NC 27577.
