I have already posted, but I am English and as I said before, loved watching Alice as a teenager when it came to Britain´s Channel 4 in the 80s. I´ve been watching a show we have over here called the One Show, on which one of the guests was our very own British legend of an actress, Joanna Lumley. The more I think about the amazing things she´s done in her acting career, the more I feel that Linda Lavin was the `U.S. equivalent´ - both true legends in their profession

Loved watching `Alice´ in my teens - would have been around 1984 because I don´t think it reached the UK until much later. Simple, family entertainment and I loved the sarcasm in some of Alice´s comments (something we Brits seem to be good at ). Rest in peace

Oh Linda ... how shocked & sad I am to hear of your passing. You've always been like an old friend ... someone I may not see for a while but when I would see you on another TV show, it was like picking up where we left off. Just like old friends. You always had such a quick wit, an easy smile & you exuded happiness! I don't think that was an act. I think that's who you really were.
I will certainly miss you.

Linda Lavin, the incredibly talented actress and singer who stole my heart with her captivating performances. As a huge fan, I'm still cherishing the memories of watching her shine on stage and screen, bringing joy and laughter to my life.Who can forget her iconic role as Alice Hyatt in the hit TV show "Alice"? Her portrayal of the lovable and feisty waitress from Jersey City earned her a Golden Globe Award and a permanent place in my heart. I loved watching her chemistry with the cast, and her banter and camaraderie with them made the show a staple of my childhood.
But Linda's talents didn't stop there. She was a gifted singer, and her cabaret performances were always met with rave reviews. Her voice was warm and rich, and she had a way of interpreting a song that made it feel like it was written just for me.
As a fan, I never got to meet Linda, but her performances made me feel like I knew her. She had a way of connecting with her audience that made us feel seen and heard. Her talent, dedication, and passion for her craft inspired me to pursue my own dreams, and for that, I'll be eternally grateful.
From Juyray of New Orleans:
I'm sending love and condolences from the Big Easy. Linda Lavin's sparkling personality and talent touched hearts everywhere, including mine. Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched, and the memories we hold dear of her iconic performances. Rest in peace, dear Linda."
Rest in peace, dear Linda. Your talent, your spirit, and your generosity of heart will never be forgotten. You may be gone, but your legacy lives on in the hearts of your fans, and I'm honored to have been one of them.

with my parents back in the late 70's and 80's. She was a great actress in a show that lasted 9 seasons with a talented cast that included Polly Holliday,
Diane Ladd, Celia Weston and the late Vic Tayback, Beth Howland and Philip McKeon. R.I.P. Alice.
