Linda Lemmon Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 4, 2008.
ORLAND - On Feb. 2, 2008, Linda (Brown) LeMmon went home to be with her Lord and Savior. He gently and quickly relieved her from her 11-year, courageous battle with cancer. Linda died at her home in Orland surrounded by her loved ones. Linda was predeceased by her parents, Warren and Norma Brown; and her older sister, Barbara Brown; as well as her grandparents and many aunts and uncles. Linda will be missed more than words can express, by her two daughters, Jennifer Lauhon of Orrington and Jillian Merrill of Bucksport. She leaves behind four precious grandchildren, to whom she is known as "Nama." They are Ashely "Puffin" Berglund, Braeden "the great" Berglund, Gabrielle "Ro Ro" Lauhon and her own "Prince of Maine," Jordan Merrill. Linda is also survived by her younger sister, Patti Brown of Florida; brother, Rob-ert Brown and wife, Dorothy, of Tennessee; son-in-law, Chad Lauhon of Orrington; her special brother-in-law, Luis Hernandez of Florida; nieces, Teresa Turner of Alabama and Tammy Roper of Texas; several great-nieces and great-nephews. Linda will be missed by her close friend and "adopted daughter," Konnett Bolliger; as well as two close friends and yard sale buddies, Lesa Brown and Cathy Lauhon. Linda never stopped loving her husband of 10 years, Gerald LeMmon. It was in her last days, that he came home and lovingly comforted her and supported the family. A great void will be felt by her faithful companion and comfort, her retired racing greyhound, Penny. Linda was born in Eagle Lake and grew up in Fort Kent and Newport, where she married the father of her girls, Charles Merrill. She went on to attend Eastern Maine Vocational Technical Institute and practice as a nurse. Linda then moved to Las Vegas, where she began her life's work of caring for handicapped children in their homes. Her kindness and compassion made her a welcome addition to the families. Examples of Linda's caring spirit inspired both of her daughters to follow in her footsteps. It is no wonder that Jennifer now devotes her life to caring for children through her daycare business and Jillian is now a registered nurse. Shortly after moving back to Maine in 2002, Linda's illness began to take a toll on her body. She gave up nursing and devoted her time to helping her parents as they aged. Linda would wish for everyone to take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace, with no pain, no sorrow. She is comforted in the arms of our Lord, surrounded by her family. She had hope in eternity and wishes the same for all of you. Family and friends will gather for visitation 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, with Pastors Ron Pyle and Ken Davenport as officiants. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Linda's niece, Teresa's family. Teresa is currently battling terminal cancer and will be leaving behind five children. It is our hope that we can relieve some of the financial burden of her funeral in memory of our mother. Please make checks payable to the Linda LeMmon Memorial Account, Camden National Bank, 382 Main St., Bucksport, ME 04416.

My Dearest Nieces: Words cannot express how great a loss that you both have sustained. There is hardly a moment that goes by without me thinking of Linda, and then of course, you. She left a void that feels as big as the Grand Canyon; she could also be that kindhearted and that frustrating, too! I want both of you to know that I am always here for you, and for your children, whatever the need or want may be, I will try my very best. You two are the closest things I have ever had (and will ever have) to having children of my own. I thanked Linda in those last few days for having you both, and sharing you with me - it's both a privilege and an honor. She said I'd change my mind (I'm not kidding :))! I love you and I'm here for you.
Love, Aunt Patti

Your Mother was a dear friend of my daughter Deborah. While visiting our daughter in Las Vegas we had the privelege of meeting your mother, what a dear sweet person, we had bible study in her home.
What a comfort it is to know how she loved and served our Lord.
Our prayers are with you both and your families. Elizabeth (Libby) and Frank Woody

Linda was my dear friend. I loved her very much. We shared some very precious times together. Through all of her sickness, she never lost faith. I know I will see her again. Jennifer and Jillian, my heart goes out to you. You have suffered and greived a lot in the past few years. Stay strong in your faith and lean on each other knowing that you will all be together again one day. All my love....and prayers.
