Linda, you were one of the sweetest and most compassionate individuals I knew, always willing to lend an ear and listen, without judgment, and offer comfort with a beautiful smile and caring words. We had many fun moments which I will cherish. Wishing your children and grandchildren much love and comfort as they prepare to say farewell. Love, Cindy

Dear Family of Linda Lanigan,
I would like to share the last card and letter I received from your mother:
"Dear Mary, I know that thankful feelings can't be gift-wrapped, but if they could be, you'd find about a hundred of them on your doorstep, all tied up with ribbons and bows. Thank you for being such a wonderful part of my life! Thank you for brightening up my days and for giving me so many reasons to appreciate you more than you'll ever know.
"I hope the year to come will grace your life with a happy heart and so much sunlight shining through, and I hope you'll remember how thankful I am for all the smiles you've given me and for warming my heart the way you always do.
"Looking back, I find myself reliving good times and bad we've shared together. I appreciate your friendship so very much and thank God for you. We've both been blessed with wonderful families, but it's nice we are able to choose our friends. I'm so lucky to have found and chosen you. Thank you for always being there and for all the wonderful memories. Always! My BFF. Love you, Linda."
After reading this very touching message, I gave her a call and said, "That was the nicest letter I have ever received, and I feel exactly the same--except I am the lucky one." Your mother brightened every day with her beautiful smile, enormous heart, and unwavering kindness. She was strong in her faith, never judgmental, always a lady, and a true inspiration. She insisted that I was family too, and that's exactly how she always treated me. I will always treasure our friendship and thank God for my BFF too!!
Lovingly,
Mary Cavoli

Linda stepped into your life, not on it. She was the most sincere friend. I will miss her deeply. God bless the girls, her daughter and sons, her friends and everyone else who was lucky enough to be blessed by her virtue. Thank you God for giving us this wonderful person.

Dear Linda (Linny). You are my 'dearest friend' forever. There is no one like you ever or ever or ever. You stepped into my life, not on it. You taught me that friendship is more important than love. And that life is simply a moment of beauty in time. I miss you so much already. I will try to heal from this kick in the groin, just like when Nancy O'Berg kicked me in the groin on the W 65th bridge near Madison Ave back when I was a kid. But I will also do all I can to perpetuate the memories and photos I have of you (and us) with my children and grandchildren so they can appreciate how truly significant your life has been to me. Thanks for gently and compassionately caring for me as a person in the way you gently and compassionately cared for many of those patients at the hospital who also had no one else to turn to. Your generous loving heart will be deeply missed. "I must say"...your loving friend...Bill
