Linda Price Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 21, 2024.
Linda Marie Price, 73, of Gresham, Oregon passed away peacefully on December 29, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary (Hartell) and Thomas Price, and her brother, Gary. She leaves behind her three children and their spouses, Melissa (Jiff), Michelle (Nick), and Kevin (Shana) and 3 grandchildren, Riley, Atlas, and Ruby (almost here), her brother Ron (Mary) and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Linda was born in Nevada City, California, but later the family relocated to Pacifica, California where Linda graduated from Terra Nova High School. She was the mascot (a tiger) and always made everyone laugh telling the story of burning her tail on an exhaust pipe on the back of a motorcycle.

She attended College of San Mateo earning her Associates in Arts. She then transferred to California State University, Hayward earning her Bachelors of Science in physical education. After graduation she went abroad to teach high school in Australia for two years. That experience forever impacted her in the creation of life long friends, and love for Australia. She was later able to revisit with her daughter and reconnect with her friends and favorite places.

Linda raised three kids, ensuring they had childhoods filled with fun through scouting, camping, and many adventures tramping around California and Oregon. She was the greatest cheerleader for all their endeavors and accomplishments.

She worked as a preschool teacher and had a brief stint as a postal worker and famously failed the driver test because she "just drove normally". She later worked for the phone company, serving in various roles, retiring in 2008.

Linda's interests and talents included quilting, traveling (visiting as many lighthouses and covered bridges as she could), documenting family history, and spending time with family and friends. She joined a social club, the Red Hats after moving to Oregon full time in 2008 where she met wonderful friends with whom she would gallivant around town and beyond.

She was a proud life-long Girl Scout and served as a troop leader for many years teaching countless young women strength, resilience, and survival skills. She was recognized as an outstanding volunteer during her time as a leader.

Above all, Linda was a wonderful mother and friend. She embraced all who came through her door with love and kindness.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to The Girl Scouts of America in her name.

Her infectious smile. Always fun. She had great love for her family. Just felt I had known her much longer then I actually had. Very organized. Contributed so many ideas and suggestions of events to Red Hats. Always game. She is missed and will be remembered by many.

Girl, you were an awesome traveling companion. I remember the RedHat trip to Hells Canyon. A day on the river, then overnight at a motel drinking Belly Button wine and playing cards with friends.
Thanks, "Bunkie" for some great memories, you are in my heart forever.

Linda loved lighthouses and covered bridges and took me along on a lot of her sightseeing adventures.
