Linnea Isenhoff

Linnea (Berglund) Isenhoff danced into the loving arms of Jesus in the early morning of March 1, 2024. Linnea was born on January 4, 1940 in Grand Rapids where she grew up and attended Ottawa Hills High School. Linnea raised her three children in Wayland, where she enjoyed country living and gardening. Aside from spending time with family, she loved watching sports, including football, basketball, and baseball, making many trips to Chicago to watch the Cubs, but later in life turning her devotion back to The Detroit Tigers. Linnea also enjoyed shopping, road trips, spending time with friends, playing games, reading, and going to the theater. Linnea was extremely proud of her Swedish heritage, being named after Sweden's national flower. She had an incredible talent for playing the piano, playing in church and at St. Cecilia's. Her best audience was her children, who loved listening to (and watching) her play. Linnea had an outgoing personality and a quick wit. She loved to laugh and joke, and thought it important to not take yourself or life too seriously.

Linnea had a variety of jobs in her life, but her most meaningful and fulfilling job was that of associate chaplain with Forgotten Man Ministries at the Allegan County Jail. This led her to move to Allegan to be closer to her ministry. Always having a heart for the underdog, she cared for, prayed with, mentored and shared the gospel of Jesus with the inmates of the jail. She was a listening ear and a shoulder to lean on. She met people where they were on their journey in life, and reminded them that there are second chances.

Linnea will be remembered for her zest for life, her friendliness, her laughter, her relentless sarcasm, her quirky sense of humor, and her fierce independence.

Linnea was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Isenhoff. She is survived by her three children: daughter, Laurie (Wes) Wiersema; son, Rick Day; daughter, Chris (Jamie) Duryea; 10 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 11:00am at Allegan Assembly of God Church, 424 Delano St., Allegan, MI 49010.
