First met Jim and Lisa at NDEA summer conference in Pocatello, Idaho. Then again in the Ed Psych Dept.at UK. We also had
a home on Edisto. Surprised at my first Center for Creative
Retirement Book Group to see them again in Charleston,
sc where we had moved. Many fine memories of great parties
in Lexington.

It is with great fondness, I remember my godmother Lisa. She was particularly important and piecing together some of the memories of my own mother, who passed away when I was very young. Lisa was a college friend of hers and our family's became very close over the years when we both lived in California. I'm so happy that over the last few years, I have had two occasions to visit with her again, once with my 2 daughters in 2016 and once in 2018 with my wife. On both occasions, we shared many stories from past days and had more than a few laughs.
My memory of Lisa is of a strong "Jewish" mother, deeply thoughtful and intelligent, with a great love for God and family. As she joins her beloved Jim, I look forward to the day once again when I will see her again in Heaven along with my own mother and father.

I was mainly a T.A. to Jim. Visited the Barclays in KY. Greg somehow tossed a cat to Lisa. The cat freaked, and Lisa was furious. She calmed down and everything was well, with that famous smile.

After my graduation from the university of Kentucky in 1975, I kept frequent contact with Barclays family,. Both Lisa Barclay and James Barclay were great educators and scholars. They treated me not only as a Ph.D. student, but a close family member. I really appreciate them very much. Now Lisa is getting together with James in another world and I'll have them in my mind forever.

Lulla, my wife, and I first met Lisa and Jim at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. She was finishing up her coursework for her doctorate. Since our kids were the same age we became fast friends and did many things together, like camping and fishing. Mostly we sat around and swigged some booze and enjoyed ourselves in conversation. They moved to Kentucky around the same time we moved to Lafayette where I got a job teaching at Purdue.
Lisa and I loved to needle each other about almost everything. She was plenty smart, kind, very thoughtful, and a good mother whose kids turned out exceptionally well. She and Jim belong to organizations that cared about humane causes, some of which Lulla and I also supported.
The time we spent together was lively, fun, and always educational. I will continue to miss her.

Lisa was such a great lady and a true friend over many years. She will be missed but the world is a better place for her having lived in it.
