Lisa Bishop Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 17 to Jan. 19, 2024.
Lisa Ann Bishop, 54, of Columbus passed from this life on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at 9:37 a.m. at her home. She was surrounded by those who she loved most, her family.

Lisa was born on August 9, 1969, in Elwood, Indiana, the daughter of L. Eldon Wentz and Theresa "Terri" J. Williams Wentz. On July 28, 2001, she married Eric A. Bishop. On October 30th, 2003, she gave birth to Erica MA Bishop.

Survivors include her husband of 22 years, Eric A. Bishop of Columbus; daughters, Erica Bishop and Jimena Mendoza of Columbus; mother, Theresa "Terri" J. Wentz (Orv Myers) of Goshen, Indiana; father, Eldon (Carolyn) Wentz of Columbus. She is also survived by sisters Angela Wentz of Goshen,Taylor Burdekin (Michael), Angela Hubbell (Chris Parren), and brother Nathan Hubbell (Asako Hubbell).

She was preceded in death by her brother J. Eric Wentz, her grandparents, and many beloved pets.

Lisa was a devoted mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend. She was an avid Starbucks coffee drinker, shopper, mustache aficionado, and visionary. She was known by name by many baristas in town as her orders were always complex and memorable. She LOVED shopping and was often spotted driving her wheelchair to and from Target and later became a Facebook Marketplace shopping fiend. She was always ahead of the trends whether it was fashion, music, art, or entrepreneurial ideas.

She graduated from Columbus East High School and Indiana University with a Bachelor of Arts in Apparel Merchandising. She found much success selling advertising in several states and marketing for entities such as The Bloomington Voice and The Red Cross. Her passion was in helping others. She spent many hours reading to the blind, encouraging her daughter at the Columbus Animal Care Services, and spent years coordinating the Book Buddies program at Richards Elementary School, where her daughter attended.

In keeping with Lisa's wishes cremation will take place and a celebration of life service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Monday, January 22, 2024, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Dereck Fields officiating. Please dress in the most recent style favored by Lisa, comfortable, stretchy, brightly (maybe even a little wild) colored clothing.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 3:00 p.m. till time of service at the funeral home.

In memory of Lisa memorial contributions may be given through the funeral home to Love Chapel or CARE Animal Shelter.

Online condolences and special memories may be shared with the Bishop family and a video tribute viewed at barkesweaverglick.com.
