Lisa Renee DeJong

Lisa Renee (Squires) DeJong of Mattawan, Michigan, died on January 13, 2024, at the age of 47. Lisa was born in Kalamazoo on November 9, 1976, to Michael and Maureen (Mentor) Squires. Lisa attended Kalamazoo Christian High School where she ran cross country and was a cheerleader. After high school, she attended Western Michigan University. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Education from WMU. She went on to become a teacher for several years and received her master’s degree from Marygrove College. Lisa later stayed home with her children and became a daycare provider. Lisa most enjoyed spending time with her children Josh and Kelsey. She loved watching Josh play baseball and Kelsey cheer at various games and compete in several competitions.

Lisa is survived by her parents; children, Josh DeJong and Kelsey DeJong; siblings, Connie (Matt) VanDussen and Steven (Jen) Squires; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Lisa was preceded in death by her grandparents and a maternal uncle.

Visitation and memorial services will be held at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 3926 S 9th St, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49009. Visitation will take place on Sunday, January 21, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. with a luncheon to follow.
