Lisa was a very good friend for over 40 years. We started out knowing each other at Westminster PCA church and then started a new church- Pinewood with Rod Whited. We continued being good friends over the years and shared good and bad times. She was always so sweet and kind to me. I miss her very much and will see her again one day in heaven.

Love,

Joy Curtis

Today is 10 months since you were taken from me, Mom. I miss meeting you for lunches and breakfasts we would make. I loved our times in supermarkets where you teach me about Greek food and all sorts of cooking techniques. I am starting to cook more and you are with me as I do. Please continue to steer me in the right direction with these recipes as I know you never wrote them down and I am doing them each from my memory. I miss laughing and cooking together and our sharp-quick-witted humor as a Mom and Son who are both young at heart. I miss taking `mirror selfies´ with you like this one after our fun times out. I was blessed to have you as a mom, I am glad God chose you for me. I love you and will miss you forever.

I remember sitting in your kitchen, and watching you prepare some very delicious meals. I remember and loved that you let me hold Mackenzie. I know how special he was to you! I want to thank you and Mr. Hoffman for producing and raising such a wonderful son. Beau and I went to DA together, and we reconnected at FCCJ. We learned that we shared three common things. We both love Madonna, Disney and Twin Peaks. Beau told me how much you loved the Beatles, and he started me on Sargeant Pepper´s Lonely Hearts Club Band. It was great! To this day, if there´s anything major going on with me, I talk to my mom and husband Chris first, and then I go straight to Beau. Thank you for raising such a good listener! I know that you and Mr. Hoffman are assuredly enjoying time together in heaven.
Hugs and love to you!

She was one of the kindest and most loving people I´ve ever met!
I will never forget the day she came to my acting class...
She was always filled with life and passion and so so so much love for Beau!

She always kept in touch with me here and there and her messages filled me with love...

I know she adored you Beau deeply...I also know that the love she had for you will always protect you!

She will always be with you...you´ll still see her everyday you look in the mirror...

I understand the pain of losing a mother from one second to another...it´s horrible...but I hope you can find some comfort in knowing she was happy, she felt loved and she loved you more than anything in this world!

Time helps but the pain will live with you almost as a reminder of her love as well...

I have tears rolling down my face as I write this...I wish I could hug you so tight right now...

Do not hesitate for even a second to reach out to me if you need a shoulder, an ear or just someone to sit in silence with.

I love you Beau and there´s so much of her in you...

Hello Beau,

Thank you so much for thinking of me and for sharing your mom's obituary. I´m so glad you did. Every kindness she shared with others, including with me during the day we spent together, resonates so beautifully in the heartfelt words written here by her family and friends. . While we had only spoken on the phone and through text the month leading up to her visit to Jacksonville, I knew she was a special soul from the moment I met her-there was something so genuine about Lisa that you could feel immediately. She was so attentive, kind and grateful to those we interacted with and towards me. She was unique. We had a full day exploring potential properties and during lunch, shared stories of our travels and love of cooking. I looked forward to nurturing a friendship with Lisa once she got settled here.

I´m glad you were able to have her service at Oaklawn; it´s peaceful. If it´s okay with you, I would love to visit her there with flowers. I think of you both very often, and I continue to pray for your peace and healing as you navigate this heartbreak.
Thank you again for taking the time to share this with me. It truly means a lot.

Lisa was a good friend to me and the people of the Kendall Presbyterian Church. She made numerous contributions to our church family that few ever knew about other than me, but that was how she preferred it.

I know she would want me to add:

Jesus said ..., "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me." - John 14:6.

Lisa knew the way and followed it - followed Him - faithfully. Now she resides in His presence forever. Her passing from this life to life eternal adds a wonderful attraction to heaven.

Lisa and I connected through Instagram. We bonded over widowhood and our love of all things Beatles.
We hit it off so well that Lisa flew all the way from LA to London so we could meet in person.
I arranged to meet her outside Queensgate tube Station not even knowing what each other looked like!
It was obvious who she was the moment I saw her. Her vibrancy filled the space and I threw my arms around her.
There we were, two widows who were meeting for the first time but yet I felt as though I´d known her forever.
I said I would be her London tour guide and wherever she wanted to go, I would take her.
The only place she wanted to go to was Abbey Road recording Studios where The Beatles had famously recorded all those years ago and to walk across the zebra crossing which the Fab Four walked across on the album cover `Abbey Road´
En route I took her to Sir Paul McCartney´s house and I took a photo of her outside it. Obviously we both embarrassed ourselves by waving madly at his cctv camera hoping that he would speak to us through his intercom but no such luck!
We carried on to Abbey Road and Lisa was beyond excited. She looked at that building breathing in every detail and we signed our messages on the wall outside.
Then it was time to walk across the zebra crossing. Lisa waited patiently whilst tons of people posed and drivers beeped. Finally she had the crossing to herself and over she went. She did it! She was laughing out loud and went back and forth several times.
We then went to the Abbey Road shop where we spent too much money on souvenirs!
The last stop of the day was the pub, she was in Britain after all and the pub is what we are all about!
We drank and ate and talked about everything.
Finally, Lisa was tired and wanted to go and have a nap so back on the tube from St John´s Wood to Queensgate we went.
What a day, what a lady. I´ll never forget the beautiful woman that Lisa was and will always be. I miss her.

Lisa, my dear friend and neighbor, gone way too soon. Her kindness and generosity towards humans was immeasurable. She loved all our pets especially Rascal. So thankful for our times together. Unbelievable we were laughing and having lunch just a few days before she gained her wings so suddenly. Thank you for making this world a better place. I miss our texts every single day. May you rest in peace "Sis".

Beau. I will always remember Lisa. I am sure everyone who ever had the privilege of meeting Lisa knows what a vibrant and beautiful soul she was. It seems as you have that same beautiful heart and soul like his mom. My heart was so saddened when I heard the news of her passing. Just know that your mom loved you dearly and she will always live in your heart.

I will always - ALWAYS - think of Lisa when I am in or near Christopher Park in the West Village. Unforgettable afternoon with her and my daughter, who was only like 3 at the time... we had a lovely lunch and then a leisurely stroll through one of my favorite neighborhoods. This was long after our bond had been established in her home while Beau and I were becoming lifelong friends at DA - and a simply beautiful full circle experience with her in what had become my city I have a photo of my little one from that day I´ll share when it resurfaces...

My mom Lisa Hoffman lived long enough to see some very special landmarks. She made it to 71 (the year she graduated from Miami Senior High School in 1971) She made it to celebrate what would have been her 50th anniversary to my father & her high school sweetheart, Bruce Hoffman who were married in 1974 on April 19th. This April 19th we shared a home cooked rigatoni meal and talked about her memories from that celebration back in 1974. The most special for me, however is she was front row to me getting married to my forever person, and husband, James McDermott on 2/24/2024. Her support of this marriage not only was a blessing for me but a great reminder to me of how modern she was as a person and a follower of Jesus Christ. This meant the world to me, Mom! Thank you. My dad would be so proud of us!

My mom was known to have a direct connection to animals. No matter what in whatever capacity animals actually came to her and would think she was actually another animal. It was a special old world kind of appreciation that they would have for her as if they had met a safe new friend for like. When I would comment on this she would always say, "Well, like attracts like, I guess." I will miss this.

My mom's last text to me was about her faith : "Christianity isn´t going to church. It´s how we speak. It´s how we treat people. It´s how we live our lives.
It´s how we keep our word. It´s about how we can make a load a little lighter for those who cross our paths. Just do your best everyday, Beau. Take your time to help others with the time you have left. Your life is a gift and if you slow down, you will see how you are truly blessed. Everything always works out. I promise."

Our trip to Amsterdam was a wonderful one. I was proud of the transfer she had made from the Eurostar line to the Thayls line in Brussels to make it to Amsterdam Central Station and met her with a carved wooded tulip. She was a traveler and I loved that she had done this transfer by herself. I could have met her with real tulips but wanted something that would last longer so I chose the wooden one for her. I am so proud of you, Mom May your traveling life and memory live eternal. Jooooooo!

My first memory of my mom is a fun one of her laughing over my crib with my bottle she would 'zoom' it over me back and forth like an airplane. It was so funny. She has always had a youthful mindset and heart right from the beginning of my life.
