Lisa McAllister Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 6, 2007.
Lisa Marie McAllister, 44, died Sunday, March 4, 2007, at 4:20 a.m., at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends following a courageous two year battle with cancer.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home. A wake celebrating her life will be held at Murphy's Pub (downstairs, formerly known as the Cavern) in Rock Island immediately following the memorial service.
Lisa was born February 15, 1963, in Moline, the daughter of Barbara and Robert Walker. Later, Barbara remarried and Lisa became the step-daughter of Harry Grapengeter, along with surviving sisters, Julie Sherlock of Lone Tree, Iowa, Dee Walker of Nichols, Iowa, Rhonda Walker-Russo of St. Petersburg, Fla.,, Barbie Walker of Nichols and Andrea Grapengeter-Walker of Wilton, Iowa and 18 nieces and nephews.
On March 3, 1984, Lisa was married to Fred McAllister; they had two daughters, Nichole and Amanda and a beautiful granddaughter, Makinzie Harker, all of West Liberty.
Throughout Lisa's life, she took in under her wing several distraught family members, friends, children and animals, providing a safe and loving home. She expressed her love for life and music as a singer and light/sound technician for several local bands, a bartender, a maintenance technician for Franciscan Hospital and Royal Neighbors of America, a warehouse worker and a siding technician for local construction companies.
Lisa's loving, caring and giving nature touched the lives of all who knew and loved her, but now God needs her as his angel!

Where do I begin?? Lisa was my life long friend and will be deeply missed. I grew up with Lisa and have sooo many childhood memories. She truly was "one of a kind". Through the years the miles between us were many but that never changed who and what we were...Lisa was like a sister to me. No matter how long the time between conversations...we picked up where we left off. This is the world's loss and God's gain!!! R.I.P Lisa I Love You!

Lisa, as most of you know, has been my Best Friend, my Favorite Sidekick, and the Best Damn Backup I could ever ask for. She has been a very big part of who I am, for over 30 years. We have shared the best of times, as well as the worst over the years, and what gets me through this, is knowing that now, she is my Guardian Angle, she's got my back like never before. And she's saving me a seat! I LOVE YOU GIRL.
