Lisa McClain Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 9, 2012.
Lisa was born on January 6, 1962, to Richard and Janet Henry. She was raised in Edgerton, Wisconsin, where she excelled in art and swimming. She married her high school sweetheart and best friend Paul McClain on August 8, 1981 at the young age of 19. Upon Paul joining the US Air Force, they lived in a variety of locations, including Michigan, Germany, Texas, Mississippi, and, most recently, Florida. In 1986, Lisa graduated with degrees in English and Psychology from the University of Northern Michigan. Paul and Lisa lovingly adopted Mason Joseph in 1987 from Korea. While in Columbus, Mississippi, she managed the Human Resources, Payroll and Union matters for the DynCorp, who maintains the aircraft fleet for the Columbus Air Force Base. If you knew Lisa, her love for dogs and animals in general was evident. She always had as many dogs as Paul would allow … plus one … and maybe throw a cat in the mix, too! Currently three dogs reside at the McClain household, including a very large female Rottweiler "Kitten", a 4 lb. Yorkie "Mousse" (or "The Diva") and a bug-eyed Marty Feldman look-alike Boston Terrier "Cleo". These names give you an idea of Lisa's dry sense of humor and wit – something that amused all of us! Lisa was very creative and the beaded jewelry she made and sold was beautiful. Other hobbies included photography, sewing, knitting, gardening, and cooking. Lisa and Paul's dream was to retire in the beautiful Smokey Mountains, a place where they loved to relax and enjoy the mountains, wildlife and quaint establishments. Lisa was embraced in Heaven by her dad Richard Henry and father-in-law John McClain. We will miss her terribly but can be comforted by the fact that she is no longer in pain and with her God. She leaves behind a loving husband of 30 years Paul McClain; son Mason McClain; mother Janet Henry; sister Tammy (Larry) Kuenster; mother-in-law Esther McClain; sister-in-laws Pat (Jim) Tobin, Laura McClain and Kathy Garwell; brother-in-laws Dan (Gretchen) McClain and Jay (Lisa) McClain; 14 nieces and nephews; 3 grand-nieces and nephews. The family requests that memorials will be directed to: Migraine Research Foundation, 300 East 75th Street, Suite 3K, New York, NY 10021.

I enjoyed working with Lisa at Dyncorp. I will always remember her walking the hall in her many pair of high heels saying, "You are not going to believe how much I paid for these?" She loved a bargain. She will be greatly missed.
