I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to meet and get to know Lisa. I knew she was a very special person from Day 1. She put others before herself, and she always lifted me every single time I saw her. Such an amazing, inspiring woman who will be very very missed. Sending all of her loved ones my sincere sympathy for the incredible loss of truly one of a kind.

One of my earliest memories of Lisa was her daughter, Nicole, sharing how much she loved her children. She gave them everything she could and I feel privileged to have met her.

We were lucky to be next door neighbors with the Pezzino family for over 25 years. They are a beautiful, caring and loving family. Some of my fondest memories of Lisa are the days we would both be outside in our yards and our dog/dogs would race up to visit her and we would have a wonderful neighborly chat to catch up on everyone's busy lives. She was a beautiful and strong lady and I know she will be missed by many. Our hearts are breaking for all of you. Please know you're all in our thoughts and prayers. Love The Witowski Family

I am so deeply sorry for the Pezzino family and friends to hear of Lisa's passing. Lisa was our department secretary (what an inadequate title for all that she meant to us) in Civil Engineering for a few years before moving over to Biology. A more warm, caring, generous, thoughtful, and positive person could scarcely be imagined. Rest in peace and comfort, Lisa.

I never got a chance to meet Lisa but I saw her work in my friend Nicole. I know it was her mom´s love and spirit that made her an amazing daughter, mother and friend. My heart goes to the entire family wishing you peace and strength during this time.

There just aren't sufficient words to offer that can capture my sorrow on Lisa's passing. Lisa was the kind of person who held others together. I have often thought of her as super glue! She didn´t push or pull, she just knew when and how to hold on. Her grip was fashioned of care and compassion, of duty worn easily. She struck that true balance of professionalism and warmth, a posture we could all learn. I never heard her speak a mean word; she always tried to find the good in people. She kept a cookie jar in the office filled with treats that cycled among the holidays. She always sent a birthday email notice around the Biology department, even for some of us older folks hoping to overlook the passing of time! And she made time for anyone who needed her help or wanted her insight. She understood people, she understood us, and she always challenged us to be better. Her illness tempered her faith from iron to a steely strength that defied explanation. And we had no doubt she managed things her way. She knew what she was doing. She knew what mattered. Her family was everything to her, and her pride and joy in your accomplishments sustained her. We in biology were so fortunate to have her with us as long as she was-she referred to us as `her Bio Peeps´ more often than not. And for many of us in biology, she was family. We will miss her desperately.

Wayne, I hope you, Nicole, Jack, Maria and Sarah draw comfort from the wonderful memories you have of Lisa. May she rest peacefully.

One of the best softball moms I´ve ever met, Lisa was always ready to help whenever she could. She was always happy to talk to us girls in between our NCC games. My mom loved talking to her at all the games too. We send our love to you Maria and your family.
Love,
