Ljiljana Dusana Stanojevic

Somehow I never saw this until today - 10/14. So sorry to miss the memorial. I first met Ljilja in (I think) 1973 on a ship returning to the US from Yugoslavia, along with Dusan and Melinda. We saw them regularly after they moved to Yakima. Ljilja was indeed one of a kind! Memory eternal.

Ljilja dropped by the Drs Taylor and Bryan office for a chat with Melinda, when she was a highschool teenager, so I knew Ljilja's family, Melinda and Dusan, in Yakima. I remember taking her skiing at White Pass, working on political marches, marrying Carlos and the birth of Milly for a long time. We phone chatted during her extended illness. I'm sad that she suffered so with LAM. Not fair.

With great sadness to hear the very sad news of the passing of our childhood (myself and my brother) downstairs neighbour, we had the joy of "babysitting " every now and then! She was a spirited firecracker in the single digits, and always, it appears! - I remember very sadly reconnecting only one time as an adult - My deepest condolences and sympathies to all her close friends and family, especially to her lovely mother, Melinda and daughter ... I was so very sad to hear of Ljilja through a mutual Columbia friend a while ago but only now reading this obituary. I remember, above all, that this "one-of-a-kind" was one of the quirkiest people I met at college. She had a silly sense of humor that meshed well with mine. Her memory is a blessing for those who had the fortune to know her.

I have so many memories of Lj and I laughing hysterically-in the car, in her home, over brunch where people gave us dirty looks. Even in illness she could woo doctors by quizzing them on their favorite greek philosophers, and then bring a full hospital emergency room to a screeching halt by chanting "Attica! Attica!" until even the nurses shook their heads, and then nodded in admiration. In her end days she told me she had a lot of good left to do in the world. I wish she could have rabble roused a bit longer.

When I joined Facebook, she was one of the first classmates to be a FB friend. It was 2016, 30th class reunion. She shared with me that my dad was her 6th grade teacher.
She was very smart.
I'm sorry to hear that she has passed away. I pray for comfort and peace for her family.

I met Ljiljana at Franklin Jr High. She was in my First year Spanish Class. I had already experienced so many bright students. This particular class was filled with wonderfully bright students. It didn´t take me very longt, she was to know that Ljiljana was special. She wasn´t just bright. She had a very sophisticated humor. In fact her sophistication was beyond the other students in so many ways. Yet,
The students loved her and she loved them. I never saw her put herself above others. She was so special.

My first memory was on a school bus in which Ljilja read Wiinie the Pooh and the Honey Tree, including singing Little Black Raincloud. I cannot remember grade, where we were going, etc. But i forever remember her and Winnie the Pooh!

I met Ljilja in my seventh-grade world cultures course taught by Mr. Halfmoon. I had quite a crush on her, but I wasn't the only one! She may be the closest thing Yakima will ever have to Hillary Clinton, and like me, got mixed reviews for our strong opinions. We were both part of our school's Close-up group and traveled together to Washington DC near the end of our junior year in high school. After some years apart, we eventually reunited in Seattle, where I met her loving husband and their daughter. She has inspired many people to find courage, happiness, and to open their minds!

Thank you for the parties, the aimless drives, the happy hours, and the side-splitting laughs. You´ll never be forgotten.
