Lloyd Hoffert Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 6, 2026.
Butch spent his life vibrantly sharing love with others from October 13, 1954 to February 1, 2026. He spent his final days at home surrounded by adoring family/friends. He is survived by five devoted children with dozens more feeling his fatherly affection and ferocity. His greatest lesson was teaching us to love - whole-heartedly, authentically and without judgement.

Dad loved his children deeply and supported them however they wanted to be, unless they stacked his firewood incorrectly! His kids include Jerrod, Corey (Micah), Lovella Calica (Tone), Eli, (Kristi) and Shane (Heather). He truly treasured being Papa to his nine grandkids Alana, Brooklyn, Cavin, Maveric, Carsyn, Johnathen, Dylan, Reece and Avyn. Most of their favorite memories with him include going for walks, picking flowers and fruit, getting messy and drinking chocolate - in milk or hot fudge form. Butch is survived by his beloved siblings Charla, Paula & Billy and countless adoring family members. He nurtured many genuine friendships, especially with his "Baby Mama" Rosie and best friend Steve. He was preceded in death by his parents Lovella & Lloyd.

"Old Man Winter" had a profound love for music and always volunteered in support of it. He lived for music festivals, always sharing his beautiful smile and heartfelt hugs. At one festival, he earned the title "Official Vibes Ambassador." Lloyd attended The Revival Center and took pleasure in supporting the community by cooking/serving meals with Shane and working in the nursery. He sincerely enjoyed children and they certainly loved him and his beard!

Uncle Butch reveled in creative, resourceful endeavors including making maple syrup, blacksmithing, tending to honey-bees, fishing, hunting, growing vegetables, flowers & herbs, cooking culinary inventions (usually with okra), filling his woodstove properly and escaping winters in Hawai'i to enjoy the sunshine with his nephew Carlos.

Mr. Smiles cherished and embodied love, family, kindness, justice, benevolence, a deep connection to nature, and education. Pops had a ridiculous sense of humor, loved being a goof and was known for his colorful clothes and wild hair. Daddy never compromised his values and he always did things his own way, no matter what any authority said.

A few favorite phrases of his include, "Bless your cute little nose," "When you become the boss, then you can make the rules," and "Have a beautiful day."

Per his request, cremation has taken place and there will not be a funeral. The family will host a Celebration of Life in Harrietta this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gopherwood Concerts. They will support Hoxeyville Skies (one of his favorite festivals), which will include a memorial in his honor. Dad's legacy of love lives inside each of us and we hope to feel it in your embrace this summer.

Lovella,

Melissa and I are very sad for your loss. We are sorry that we did not have an opportunity to really interact with "Butch" but we are glad that he had such a loving and supportive family. Surely he will be missed by a lot of people. One can only hope that we have a positive impact like your father did when we leave this world. We will continue to pray for you and your family. God bless!

I will cherish the memories of hanging and talking with Lloyd at Hoxeyville Music Festival. I will always remember his kindness, and how easy it was to just have a great conversation with him. I'm very glad to have known him.

My cousin Butch was my favorite. He was kind hearted and the most loving person I have known. Butch always told me I was a trophy to our ancestors. I believe he holds a special trophy to our ancestors as well. I will love and miss my cousin forever!

Lloyd was one of my favorite people! "My buddy"! We met over 40 years ago while working at Manton Industries together. He always had a smile and a hug whenever we saw him. And what a great cook, he made the best stuffed cabbage and was always willing to share.
Every year he would text me to tell me the blueberries were ready! And now I´m sure my buddy is picking blueberries daily!!
He loved you kids!! He´d share stories every time I saw him!!

Got to know Butch fairly well through Steve C and always enjoyed seeing what he was up to. Loved his ingenuity and uniqueness, as well as an ever present smile and friendly greeting. Proud to call him friend. Hope he still has his hair and beard in Heaven so I can recognize him.

Lloyd was one of those special people that, after your first conversation, you know you love him. I met Lloyd at Harvest Gathering a few years ago, and would see him there in following years, as well as Hoxeyville and finally, last Summer at Blissfest.

He had that rare quality of making you feel like you were his best friend.

I knew these things about Lloyd... he loved music, he loved his family and he loved life.

My beloved music festivals will never be quite the same, but I will always feel the familiar comfort of having Lloyd´s energy swirling around me, forever. In the air, the music, the conversations and the embraces.
