I was just looking through my old SIUE notebooks from the course Lloyd Kropp taught us on Egyptian Heiroglyphics. This unique course could only have been taught by him, and we were lucky to have him as as instructor. I didn't know he was such an accomplished author, and I intend to get some of his books and have a good read. RIP sir.

I read each of his books as they came out. He, thru them, is still alive in my memory.

I had Lloyd for English 101 the summer of 1967 at Ohio State. It was my first day, and probably his. maybe his first class. Anyway I was lucky to have him. He was overqualified to be teaching English 101. He had just gotten his first book," The Drift" published by Doubleday. I believe he was 27 years old. I remembered his instructions to us: be succinct and get to the point. He was the best English teacher I ever had and an inspiration. He wrote one of my favorite poems, I think it´s called "Everything is Swell". Rest in Peace sir

I just found out yesterday that he was gone. He was a wonderful teacher and a good man. He always had encouraging words and a hug for me. I'm so glad I ran into him the last time he was at Archon. I will miss him.

Dr. Kropp gave a lecture on Egyptology at Archon St. Louis some years ago that has always stuck out in my memory as one of the most fascinating and educational experiences I've had at that event. An image from it that has remained with me is that of the god Anubis offering comfort to the recently departed.

Today at an SIUE function I heard that he had passed away. My thoughts are with the family, and I hope Dr. Kropp is sharing stories with Anubis in whatever lies beyond.

Carolyn, Steven and Alex. I am so sorry to hear about your father. He was 1 of a few customers that held a special place in my heart. We would talk about you boys ar every haircut. He was so loving and such a great man.

Carolyn,
So sorry to hear about Lloyd. I remember the wonderful times he shared with the 4-h group I led when Steve and David were young. I also appreciated his piano and composition skills which he shared in music department programs at SIUE. I can sympathize with his latest journey, as my husband passed in June in memory care. My condolences to you and your sons. Linda Perry
