When I married Jan’s sister Jill in 1977, Lloyd was already well established in the family as he and Jan had been married shortly after their college graduation. Lloyd could not have been more welcoming to his new brother-in-law. He had a wide range of great passions, often a new one every time I saw him. They ranged from opera, Porsches, his last case, a new client, the new course he was teaching. I never understood how he got away with his enthusiasm for Porsches—an act of rank heresy in a solidly General Motors family. The only thing worse than owning a non-GM car in that family would have been becoming a Democrat.
Lloyd and I had great fun when we both owned second homes in the Bunker Hill Towers in downtown Los Angeles adjacent to the Music Center. We liked to attend bar association meetings, especially those of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers. I soon learned that if I attended a bar function with Lloyd, I would end up meeting everyone, and almost becoming a de facto member of every firm with which Lloyd had been associated. Lloyd liked everyone and was possessed with a gift of gab, and a bit of blarney, and loved “working a room.”
But most of all, Lloyd was a family man. He never tired of bragging about his brilliant and successful wife, his wonderful son and daughter and his four grandchildren. However, his bragging about them was never tedious; his joy and love were transparent and infectious. He was a good man, a fine lawyer, a wise judge, and a wonderful brother-in-law-by-marriage. I miss him.

Lloyd will be remembered always for the kind patient man he was. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and the entire family. He is missed by many.

Uncle Lloyd,
From the time I was A boy, I waited For the Christmas tradition of the night before Christmas. I was Excited to hear what you would write about me, but then found myself fascinated about how you could weave the entire story of an extended family experience into one poem. It was a lot of work...especially since you wrote it by hand(who does that?), but it blessed me especially in some difficult years to have one thing remain the same—your faithfulness to our family.
You will be so missed by your family here, but I know you are enjoying the full use of all the incredible faculties God gave you. Your wit, intelligence, and zest for life is now fully yours and I know You are enjoying every ounce of life with Jesus.
Until we meet again,
Chris

Although Lloyd officially became my brother in law in August of 1968 Lloyd was part of our family way before that. Somehow Lloyd was able to fit into a family of three opinionated "girls." He was just "there" with his wonderful sense of humor and outrageous stories. Of course I miss Lloyd already. I can't imagine a family gathering without Lloyd's booming welcoming "Hi," delightful smile and outstretched arms. It is all too sad but I am certain Lloyd would want us to remember all the good times-and there were lots of good times.

I knew Lloyd when we were serving as Board members on the California Employment Law Council. He was always a voice of reason and common sense. He was also one of the warmest persons I knew, welcoming new members and making all feel good. He will be missed.
