Jerry was a wonderful man who spent his life making others happy - yes, he could make anyone smile at any time regardless of the situation. I so wish I could have been here to support you, Sherri and family during this tragic time. Now that I am back in the country, please call me anytime. I am here for you.

Jerry was one of the nicest guys I've ever had the pleasure of working with. He never lost his cool. Always willing to unravel a can of worms. He was a rare and special person. There but for the grace of God, go I. Bless Jerry, Dale and the entire family.

It was always a joy to see Jerry at the Wednesday and Friday night auctions. Jerry would greet us with a smile and say "see anything you need tonight" and before we could answer he would laugh and say "silly question, I already know the answer."
We are going to miss Jerry, especially his smile and sense of humor. Our prayers and sympathy go out to all members of his family.

Jim Kerske

June 16, 2012

When I retired from IEMA 2001, Jerry gave me a $75 voucher for the racetrack -he was so generous and friendly. After retirement I saw him several times at wine tastings and, as usual he was smiling and so friendly. I will always remember him fondly.

Sherri, words can not express the sorrow I feel for all of your family at this time. Losing someone who is so dear to you is such a painful experience for the ones who are left behind.

I have found that time and prayer do help heal - and even though your lives will never be the same - the pain will subside - and the memories of him will live in your heart forever.

Remember, God is always in your corner - and at times like these - He is carrying you through all of your sorrow!

We are so sorry for his family, but to read all the kind words show what kind of son and nephew you had. I'm sure you knew it even before you read all the kind word of friends, co-workers, neighbors. Jerry was one of my dearest friends and I feel so sad for his passing. We worked at the Illinois Emergency Management Agency and he befriended my wife Linda and son Jeff and me. We went to Ram Games and my son always talked about Jerry. After we moved to the Washington, DC area Jerry would meet us for lunch if he came our way and we never missed our time together. When we returned to Springfield we usually had lunch at MaidRite. We so miss our friend Jerry and hopefully we will meet again when we go to our final resting place. God bless you Jerry and your family.

Jerry was a very special person. I will always remember his smile and laugh and how he "tried" to educate me about wine making. I think that anyone that knew or worked with Jerry would say he was by far the best and always would brighten everyone's day with his smile, unique wit, and humor. He had a special pep in his step and we all knew it was Jerry coming - I know we all wish we could hear that again. He was like a fine vintage wine - very rare and most enjoyable. Here's to you my friend - you will be missed. My deepest sympathy to Jerry's family.

I will miss Jerry's kindness, laughter and gleeful spirit. We also shared our Leo birthdays together. We talked about our dog "children." He was always up for a trivia game or volunteering to help or give to a charitable cause. This is such a loss to humanity. Rest in Peace in the ultimate Lyon's Den, my friend.

Jerry - You were not only the "Pace Car" in walking - but you set the high standard and pace for others to follow. You were turned to by so many, your loss cannot be expressed in words. Your patience was beyond the normal person -never making anyone feel bad for interrupting your busy, chaotic days. (And I should know!! LoL) The little Harley Davidson Motorcycle you gave me (from one of your auction haunts) has taken on a whole new meaning!!! I am thinking that maybe the 'Good Lord' ran into some glitches with the 'ultimate computer' of all and needed the "BEST" to help him out!! - Keep them all smiling Jerry!! I shall make a point of always making a "Toast" to you - acknowledging your presence on Thursday nights - as I know you will be there in "Spirit" !

To the family-
Our most sincerest sympathies for all you are enduring at this time. We were fortunate to have Jerry as a neighbor for the past few years. He was a friendly and generous man, as was Dale. Jerry always stopped to say hi and took time to speak with our kids, who regularly ran up to him after announcing "Jerry's home, Jerry's home!" He would sometimes bring back Superman items from an auction for my son and helped him with his t-ball swing in our front yard on more than one occasion. Today was my son's 6th birthday and last night I had to explain to him that his buddy Jerry was up in heaven now. We decided Jerry would be cheering for him from heaven during next baseball season. My three year-old said, "But I loved him." She and I decided when she thinks of Jerry she can ask God to give him a hug for her. I pray God can embrace you all in the same way!

We'll always remember Jerry as the Superman he was to our kids!

I worked with Jerry back in the day at IL Emergency Management Agency. He was a great, fun-loving, helpful, happy go-lucky guy who loved his family and people in general. You could always count on Jerry for IT help and he always greeted you with a cheery "hello"! Even several years later, if he saw you on the street he would remember you and stop to greet you. Jerry always wore a smile.

God bless you, Jerry. May you rest in peace.

The loss of Jerry leaves a large whole in my life and those of many. The short period of his life that I knew Jerry - he was a wonderful, giving person. Always happy to help - was never too busy to assist. He was more than a just a co-worker - he was a great friend. I enjoyed drinking wine at the Farmers Market with him and talking about the auctions he enjoyed going to, playing cards on Sundays, and comparing results of Superbowl. He had a great personality and was fun loving. I know the loss I feel can only be minimal to the loss the family that he cherished feels. My heart goes out to his family in this period of sudden loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
