Lloyd “Lloydie” P. Riemer, 87, of Wausau, died Sunday, May 16, 2009, peacefully in his sleep, at Mount View Care Center, Wausau.  Sherry, his wife of 20 years, was constantly with him during his failing years.

Lloydie was born the son of the late Walter and Goulda “Goldie” Riemer, on January 25, 1922, in Little Chicago, WI, where he also grew up and spent most of his life.  He was united in marriage to Sherry Luedtke on December 17, 1988, in Wausau, WI.

He was a successful businessman, owning dance halls throughout the area, and Riemer’s Bar and General Store, in Little Chicago.  He was very social, and seemed to know everyone.  It was always very important to Lloydie to recognize the good in people.  He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed dancing, but mostly was an enthusiastic fan of the Cubbies.

He will be greatly missed by his family, including:  His wife, Sherry Riemer; 3 children, Kay (Ron) Rady, Cheryl Thorstad, and Ross (Kim) Riemer; 11 grandchildren, Justin, Riley, Nate, Lucas, Kim, Todd, Robbie, Art, Perry, Kristen, and Sherry; 3 step-children, Linda Lee (Bill) Ahlmann, Lori Lynn Luedtke, and Shane Luedtke; 7 step-grandchildren, David, Michael, Erna, Emily, Jamie, Nichole, and Tyrone; numerous great-grandchildren; many other family members and friends; and his beloved dog, Bailey.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Betty (Zastrow) Riemer.

A funeral service will be held at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Rothschild, on Wednesday, May 20, at 12:00 p.m.  A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the family.  The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to all the nurses and caregivers at Mount View, floor 1 North, for the wonderful, loving care given to Lloydie and Sherry.
