I did my senior project when at Roxbury Latin working with Woody at the Bancroft school in Boston in 1973. The kids loved him. The experience led me to teaching after college. Wonderful man.

❤Dear Ingrid, Katie, Alex & Jessica,

Sending you LOADS of love and support as we hold all of you and especially Woody in our hearts. Even as we write this, we hear Woody's chuckle, his dry delivery, and feel his warmth. How lucky were we to have had our paths cross those 30 some years ago in Minot - thanks to Betsy and Walter. The bonding happened instantly and we are ridiculously grateful to have had Woody in our lives. When Sig & Sasha came along, Woody embraced them - entertained them, teased them, and pointed that finger up to their noses - daring them not to laugh. All the moments are forever treasured. We join in the throng, echoing all the sentiments expressed about Woody's truly remarkable qualities that enriched not only our lives - but countless others with his' ripple effect'. We grieve over this great loss -not having Woody here on the planet. He is forever in our hearts. With love and sympathy, Sergei, Kate, Sig & Sasha

Woody was a kind and gracious man, and full of laughter and joy. He was always there to offer a helping hand to those we serve at the Waysmeet Center, students and community members alike. He delivered many a food basket, and was always gracious to us even when our directions got him lost. He had a giant of a heart, and his compassion and empathy for others, and his passion for justice, inspire me every day. I will miss him, and our entire community of the Waysmeet Center will miss him always. Our hearts and prayers are with you all, Ingrid, Al, Jess and families. In love and light we are with you.

Dear Al, Jess, Ingrid and family~ Woody truly was a bright soul who helped to spread light everywhere he went. He never failed to give us something to smile about whenever we saw him. We knew him as a wonderful grandfather, but I know he also was an amazing father, husband and citizen of the world. We will really miss seeing him at CHMS, and I can only imagine how devastated you all are with his passing. Gone way too soon. Sending you wishes for comfort, strength and peace.

Woody always made me smile. We were neighbors, that's all, but what a treat it was to bump into him around the hood; that mischievous twinkle in his eye always promised that a pithy, witty insight was on the way. Which is to say, he never failed to provide a sprinkle or two of delight into the lives of any of us lucky enough to bump into him now and then... Sure gonna miss them sprinkles. Sure gonna miss Woody.

I will never forget the kindness and understanding Woody showed toward me as a new and inexperienced teacher in Vienna in 1989. It has been a marvel to see all the testimonials come in this week from former students and colleagues across the globe. The enormous scope of Woody's impact on so many lives is only matched by the gargantuan size of Woody's heart. His liveliness, humor, and compassion will be dearly missed.
