Lois Albertson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 11, 2025.
Pat Albertson

October 5, 1925 - May 16, 2025

Lois Patricia "Pat" Albertson, 99, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025, in her home on the St. Croix River.

Born October 5, 1925, in Bluffton, Indiana, to Mervin and Garnet (Hurst) Smith, Sr. Pat's fierce love of family-and the mischievous twinkle in her eye-blossomed early, nurtured by her siblings, Mervin Jr. and Sue.

She was president of the National Honor Society at Bluffton High School and, while at Purdue University, hosted two WBAA radio shows: Tea-Time Tunes and Little Miss Muffet. It was there she met her first husband, Donald Geiger, and soon embraced the role of motherhood-raising six children. Later, she felt equally blessed to gain six stepdaughters through her marriage to Richard Albertson.

A longtime resident of Marine on St. Croix, Minnesota, Pat became a steady presence of unconditional love and tolerance-often described as "the mother I never had." She was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Stillwater, where she found spiritual community and lasting friendships. Amid a full life, she traveled the world, and though unable to satisfy her lifelong dream of learning to fly, she was thrilled to take the yoke of a friend's plane for a few minutes.

Pat is survived by her children, Patrick Geiger (Kathy), Mike Geiger, Susan Christensen (Karl), Tom Geiger (Marianne), and Annette Geiger; stepdaughters, Darlene Kruse (Jerry), Libbie Rodakowski (Ron), Mary Ridgway, Susan Warcaba (Andy), Penny Ihrke (Lew), Kathy Potvin; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald Geiger and Richard Albertson; and by her beloved son, David Geiger.

With characteristic grace and eloquence, Pat unknowingly offered the perfect closing remark to her own story when she said, "I hope happiness reigns in your life and know that even if I am not here to see it, that I am still part of your life forever."

Memorials are preferred to the First Presbyterian Church of Stillwater, Valley Outreach, Doctors Without Borders, Free Wheelchair Mission, or Macular Degeneration Research.

Memorial service Saturday, July 19, 2025, 11:00 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church, 6201 Osgood Avenue North, Stillwater. Visitation at the church one hour prior to the service
