Dr. Lois Elizabeth Frazier

Dr Lois Frazier was my advisor and friend through Meredith College. I kept in touch with her through the years after graduation and she was always eager to hear of my accomplishments and travels. She will be missed.

Lois was always there for me when I was president of the Business and Professional Women NC Federation. She was a mentor and very good friend during the years I was active in the organization. Reading the other entries, Lois was the gentle word or hand behind a lot of younger women in many organizations to 'push' us in the right direction. The Lord received a superior woman in his House this week. She will be sorely missed.

Lois is such a lovely person. She has been an inspiration to so many of her BPW/NC sisters...a mentor, a kind friend, and a lady of distinction.

Lois was a loyal member of the Raleigh BPW Club, a past State President of the North Carolina Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs (BPW/NC) and also served as Treasurer of the National Federation. She will be remembered for her many years of service and the manner in which she touched the lives of others in special ways.

Dr. Lois Frazier influenced many through her love for education and for people in general. She had a special love for her family, but she extended that love to those she associated with at Edenton Street United Methodist and in her many educational institutions and groups. She will always be remembered by her sisters who knew her in the Gamma Eta Chapter of DKG. She will be missed.

I've known Lois since 1970, when my mother married her uncle, The Honorable Luther H. Hodges. Lois and I have remained in touch ever since and visited annually. Lois meant a lot to me because of her kind thoughtfulness and great mind. She lived a long and well-lived life. I admire her many charities and contributions to women's causes in business (way ahead of her time!). I so enjoyed hearing of her travels (all over the world). She will be greatly missed.

I wish to extend my sincerest condolences to all of Lois's family. I was privileged to know Lois for many years as a resident of Beckanna Apartments, and I enjoyed celebrating her 90th birthday with her at Edenton Street Methodist Church. I kept in touch with her after her move to Whitaker Glen, where she proudly gave a friend and me a tour and treated us to a delicious lunch. I will always remember Lois for her friendliness, intelligence and generosity.

My condolences to Lois's family. Having lunch at Whitaker Glen with Lois was one of the highlights of going back to Raleigh. She kept her remarkable mind and chipper attitude all her life, not to mention she dressed with style. Goodbye, Lois, I will miss you!

Dr. Lois Frazier was a very special Delta Kappa Gamma Society International Sister. She was such an enlightened sister and continued to learn into her late 90's! I was so pleased that she leaned to email and we corresponded through that media. We will miss Dr. Frazier at our meetings this chapter year! My Thoughts & Prayers are with her very special nieces & nephews.

Gamma Eta Chapter

I am very appreciative of the professional support Lois showed me as a young professional through the NC and National Business Education Association. She had much to offer and she did.

I have known Lois since the 1970's when we met at the swimming pool at Beckanna Apartments. After many years of being friends she casually mentioned that she had graduated from UNC-G. By the time the conversation had concluded we realized that she and my mother had been friends in college. Looking in my mother's college annual there was a picture of Lois! When I attended her 90th birthday party at Edenton Street Methodist Church I commented to a friend that when my mother and Lois were in college together that my mother would have never dreamed that the daughter she would have many years later would attend Lois' 90th birthday party. Even after Lois moved out of Beckanna I still expected to see her walking the halls as I did so many mornings. When the apartment building was remodeled and Lois moved down into the apartment below her, I then moved down from my apartment into Lois' apartment where I still live. I will always remember Lois for her wit, charm, and intelligence and all the wonderful conversations we had. It was an honor to be her friend.

Love and sympathy for the family. We know she was a great lady. We could tell by the way her niece, and our friend, Ann Phillips, spoke of her. She will watch over you, Ann, and family.

Lois Frazier was a powerful mentor to countless women, inspiring all of us to be strong. She was a role model to learn well, work hard, encourage others, and stay true to your principles. Deepest sympathy to family and friends.

The North Carolina Federation of Business and Professional Women's Club lost a dedicated member, a dear friend, a mentor to countless women and girls and a strong advocate for women's issues. One of the highlights of my presidency was in being able to present to Dr. Frazier a personal letter from then President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama honoring Lois on her 95th birthday recognizing her 68 years of membership in BPW and her commitment to women helping women. A delight was when I handed her the microphone for a few words, and she spoke extemporanoiously for more than 15 minutes on her memories of the progress she'd seen during her membership years with the Organization. Lois only missed a State Convention when it fell on the same date as her family reunion. On more than one occasion, she was chauffeured from one to the other. She touched the lives of many of us and will be missed by all.

It was an honor to know Dr. Lois. She will be missed by Diana and me! Prayers for her family.-Dr. Jo Naylor, one of her BPW/NC sisters.

I have many memories of Aunt Lois. I'll share two. Visiting Meredith College with mom. Aunt Lois's students would ooh and ah over me, if I knew then what I know now I would've kissed back, hugged and held hands longer. Most memorable were Lois's frequent visits. She would tell stories of her overseas travels and bring me trinkets. Everything a young boy wanted, hotel ash trays, and post cards, Nothing to play with but the trinkets came from another country, now that's cool! She would also mentor me with my Elementary, Middle and High school classes and courses. Honestly, didn't want the mentorship but today I have a post graduate degree, and have traveled the globe. I understand the value of those trinkets now and wish I still had them. More powerful than trinkets, I have an education, spent time with her and have those memories of her. I love you Aunt Lois and will see you again and will be begging you for your guidance and mentorship.

We did not know Lois except from pictures that her niece, Ann, posted. Ann always spoke so highly of her. Our condolences to Ann and Pete Phillips and the rest of the family ! She is truly in a much better place !
